If you received a save a date but not a wedding invitation, would you send a gift? A cousin (not very close) is getting married this month. I'm thinking I'll just send $100. What do you think?
Would you have gone to the wedding if you got the invitation? If yes, then I'd be annoyed and not send a gift. If no, then I might send something small just because they are family.
But in most cases, I don't feel a need to send a gift if I do not attend the wedding.
This is weird. Any chance your invitation was lost in the mail? Were your parents and/or siblings invited?
It seems those who got a save a date didn't get an invitation, while those who didn't get a save a date received an invitation. My sis told me that when she asked cousin about it, sis was told the save a date is the invitation. lol.

No, I had no plans on attending since it requires flying 6-8hrs and cousin is not close enough for me to spend $$ to attend the wedding.

That is the strangest thing and not what most people interpret a save-the-date to be. I would send something small maybe in the $50 - $75 range?
If the save the date = an invitation (which is weird, but moving on...), I would give the same gift that you would give to a couple of comparable closeness if you received a proper invitation but were not planning on attending the wedding.

The only time we received a save the date and no invitation was because the wedding was cancelled.
But if your question is how much to give for a weird wedding that you're not attending - I give the same amount as if I were attending. For me $100 would be a little on the high side for a cousin I'm not close to. But every area and family differs, so just go with your standard.
