I'm done painting the family room. We got new carpet. We went to Ikea and bought some shelves for the entry wall, and assembled them.
WWYD with this light fixture? I'm thinking about taking it down, taping off the copper bits, and spraying it white, then putting it in the dining room over the table. We'd install either a ceiling fan or a new, less dining room-y light.
We moved our office into an area on the main floor & minimized it a lot. Then in the old office, we are making an upstairs den. We just bought a TV that fits almost perfectly in the built in. It'll be cozy this winter.
Office (black walls are chalkboard)
New den (has couch & glider/ottoman in it too). We are putting all our video game systems & games in this room.
I finally sanded, filled and caulked around the back door and closet trim done by the handyman (not quite sure why he didn't finish those...) Fully intended to prime and paint but spent the day running errands. Hopefully I can wrap it up in the evenings before turkey day, although it's just my parents and bro, they don't care. Finally called a plumber about our badly dripping shower (from the head and the hot water stem) he's coming on Tues. shower has been dripping since this summer We are very likely going to have a bath remodel in our future, it's 38 years old.
I don't have any real AWs, though I am finally starting to feel human again. Left work early last Tuesday, not feeling well and basically did nothing but sleep till Thursday morning when I was still getting worse and finally went to the doctor. The good news is that we figured out it wasn't mono, however I do have strep throat, a sinus infection, and the beginning of an ear infection! Antibiotics have helped and by yesterday I was feeling much better. However, I hosted a birthday party yesterday morning for my BFF and then hung out with her, her husband, and son for a few hours and came home wiped out. Still working on regaining all my energy and not excited about going back to work tomorrow; I know it's been almost a week since I worked but it's going to be a long day, without napping.
I woke up at 5am this morning freaking out about radiators. Yes, radiators. We need to get one angled to fit our small bay window. I've been asking our contractor about it and he keeps putting it off. The one company I wanted to use now can't do them until MARCH 2017. So I have to find another company and hope that they can make it in 3 weeks. Ugh.

pumpkin, Hope you feel better! Marmee, I follow you on instagram and didn't put it together with your screen name. Love your house! The new den is so nice. mrs.jacinthe, How tall are you ceilings? They look so high.
My AW is that we again had a low bar, so we accomplished everything on our list. Saturday DD2 & I hung with a friend while DH and DD1 picked up our (2!) turkeys. I came home and rearranged our entryway testing out our 2 outdoor benches to see if we want one long bench there. We do! So I ordered a $$ bench and 2 wall coat racks from CB2! Can't wait to get this entryway organized. Then I took DD2 with me to IKEA while he repaired all our broken stair balusters! Sunday we went and got our Christmas tree. Early, but we wanted it up because we are hosting Thanksgiving. DH then cleaned the smoker and prepped the last new raw wood threshold for staining. I ran to Menards to get a big sheet of double wall poly-carbonate. It's a weird project, but our clawfoot tub is up against a window and DH and I both have nightmares of someone slipping in the tub and falling through the window. So we are putting up a sheet of poly-carbonate to prevent that. You will never see it. I only drove my car to menards, so I had to buy a box cutter and cut the 4'x8' sheet down in the parking lot. Ugh. Stressful.

Nothing to AW here. Except I turned off my ceiling fans and discovered the leading edge "fur coats" on them. :hork: They are now vacuumed and dusted. I don't think I am putting up my Christmas tree this year, I'm just not feeling very festive. Plus I fear the new kitty will climb it or knock it over. I need to figure out some way of adding holiday spirit here though. :/
I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.
We took a bunch of stuff to "the dump" as my kids call it, although about half is recycled and not just junked. It was good to get the random stuff that had been sitting in/around the garage and basement taken care of, and now I have space on the shelves downstairs to reorganize and make it work a bit better for us.
Also, my "purge everything" feelings continue to intensify as I deal with cleaning up my father's condo. There are sentimental things I'm still unwilling to part with, but I am paring down the number of those things and forcing myself into a volume constraint, lol. And getting rid of all the little baby stuff now that we're done having kids is making the house feel much less claustrophobic.
Saturday we shopped for a toy drive and dropped off the toys at a library listed as a drop off....except that the library knew nothing about it. After checking the website for the drive and making at least a half dozen phone calls, they gladly took our donations. DH had gotten an email about it a week or so ago, but they didn't even know anything about it and the drive ends in less than 10 days. Someone really dropped the ball.
We bought a cheap inflatable for our (somewhat tacky) Christmas display, and then I spent Saturday afternoon removing parts of it and patching it, so that I can turn it into what I want it to be. Now I need to paint a section and figure out the most important part of it so that it will be ready when we are.
DH removed tile and thinset from the floor of the closet in the bathroom that we are combining with the adjacent guest room closet, so now we can frame that in and close it off from the bathroom. It was a horrible, messy job, but it did convince DH that we need to hire it out when we redo the bathroom. The tile was no problem, but the thinset was hard work. It made such a mess...today I need to clean every bit of dust in there so that I can do laundry back there.
I spent a lot of time yesterday working on organizing spices, condiments and pantry stuff, and seemingly making little headway. I actually have done quite a bit, but I seem to make things a lot worse before it gets better when I do stuff like this. I really need to uncover the countertop on my island before we start cooking for Thanksgiving, and right now it is buried under food stuff while I am finding storage solutions. We are staying home for Thanksgiving, but it's no wonder that DH suggested eating out.lol

I've been wanting to tally up what I did in the last week, since it's a LOT of stuff! After a SIX WEEK bout of bronchitis where I did nothing but binge watch Netflix and HGTV, the productivity rebound effect is kicking in.
My niece just moved her and is furnishing her first real apartment so some of my accomplishments involve her. In the last week, I: - made 2 zippered pillow covers for niece - painted/refinished a small kitchen cart for niece - made two pipe/wood accent tables for my home - painted our huge ikea mirror (was the very dark brown/black color, I painted it off-white) - made two small wood/art pieces and hung them - assembled ikea bed for niece (very proud of this one!!) - bought and recovered 3 barstools for niece
On the to do list: - more pillow covers for niece once fabric arrives - paint thrift store tv stand for niece - make matching pipe/wood bar cart for me!
DS is four and this is the first time he's actually excited about putting up a Christmas tree and decorations. We're going to go all out this weekend and I'm so excited to do it all "with him." (I know he won't be doing a ton)
