I feel like I always have to insist that Tman eats the lunch I send him, but I always try to make it something yummy that he'd like. Still, he'll come home with partially eaten this or that. So, what did you like to take for lunch as a kid - give me some ideas.
Today, he has a pb&j (creamy and grape) with no crust, grapes, string cheese, this chocolate sandwich thingy, and chocolate milk. I bet I will get the chocolate treat and half the grapes back and probably even cheese.
He has a mid-morning snack break, too, so he can either choose the grapes or the cheese.
I don't feed him a giant breakfast, so he must be hungry. (Today he had one egg, toast, and a yogurt.)

It isn't unusual for DD to come home with more than 1/2 her lunch uneaten. Then she'll scarf it down - either while we're still playing at the playground at school or the minute we walk through the door. Then she won't be hungry for dinner. She claims they don't have enough time to eat - and I agree with her to a point - but she'd be able to eat more if she'd focus on lunch.
Anyway, I don't remember what I'd bring, but with DD we usually send:
Ham & Cheese Sandwich Grilled chicken and cheese tortilla Leftovers Pasta w/ butter Bagel w/ cream cheese and strawberries
Then one veggie - raw carrots and snap peas, cooked green beans, peas or edamame. One fruit - apple sauce, grapes, sliced apple, berries And one extra snack - pretzels, crackers, string cheese Oh, and milk.

I don't really remember, but I always like pb&j with the crusts cut off. Though I might have had the cafeteria lunch more than bringing my own. I loved when they had corn dogs. ;D
I still to this day love a PB&J. That was our go-to snack for the drive up to the mountain to ski (on a really hearty, seedy bread like Dave's) until I figured out that gluten hates me. Before that, I always loved PB&J. I like apples w/ peanut butter too.

I always liked varied sandwiches (tuna fish, lunchmeat/cheese, pb&j), some fruit (apple, orange, grapes, banana), a cracker/cheese combo of some sort, a sweet thing (usually Hostess), and juice or milk. I also went back and forth on getting school hot lunch and packed lunch. I think it was whether or not my mom had time to make my lunch or not.
ETA: Leftovers were always a big hit for lunches, too. My mom loved making big batches of things and packing them for my lunches. We had thermos containers for anything that was meant to stay hot.
my parents don't "believe" in cold lunches, and were always upset we didn't have a microwave in school. there are very few cold lunches that are common in our culture, so my parents just had no idea how to make/prepare lunches. my brother and i made our own sandwiches, or we'd buy lunch.
