I had dinner with a friend who designs houses for $$$$$ people and he was telling me all sorts of craziness.
Like how they have industrial dishwashers that can clean dishes in 45 seconds in their catering kitchen. Or how they have a dishwasher in their bedroom as part of their coffee bar.

I just can't imagine having a house like that. One of my friends used to have this kind of house (she divorced) she said it was exhausting, she had to host parties all the time, and the big beautiful house was not worth it.

Yeah, he said one of his clients hosted elaborate parties every week. I couldn't believe it!
H has this card too and his bonus is set to kick in at the end of the billing cycle. So many possibilities. It was also the reason I finally convinced him to get TSA precheck.
Another PSA related to that card, if you have other cards on Chase rewards, you can transfer them to the reserve account for yourself or household members. I got the Chase Preferred before the Reserve deal came out so I transferred all my points to H's where they're worth 1.5Γ for travel instead of 1.25. Got a free ticket to SE Asia with the points!
Can you get Global Entry at your local airport?
I really want to get it, but the website makes it look like the closest airport to us that does it is O'Hare (and maybe Midway too?). I can't figure out when it would be convenient for us to go there and get it done. I feel like if we have to make a special trip just for that, it negates the convenience factor. Which is a huge bummer.
Look into getting an appointment for Global Entry when you are in LA. They do interviews at LAX.

I just got my TSA precheck screening done, and I didn't get anywhere near an airport. The TSA precheck website should have a list of places that can do the screenings and allow you to make an appointment. Once I had all my paperwork in order I was in and out in about 20 minutes, and I got my KTN (known traveler number) in the mail a couple of weeks later.
So the BBQ meat I hemmed and hawed over on this board? For our party today?
I called in the order on Wednesday. The girl gave me a price quote on the phone, assured me it'd be ready by 2 pm today. I asked if they needed a CC deposit and she said no, just pay on pickup. No problem. I didn't get her name ... didn't think to, because every time we go there the service is good and the people are always so nice.
MH said he'd go pick it up for me. Gets there and then calls me all frustrated - his story ranges from "they said you never placed the order" to "it won't be ready until 3" to "they said they just called you (they didn't)." And he said the clerk gave him an attitude about all of it. I re-checked my phone's call log to confirm that I did indeed call them on Wednesday.
He sat there for nearly an hour while they packaged up whatever they happened to have ready. He's just heading home now. So he will be in a Mood about this all day. (Plus because the weather here is a bit nasty today and 7 people already canceled on us.)
I swear, he has the worst luck when he runs errands on my behalf. He volunteers, I always say no, he does it anyway. And then he calls/texts me when there is inevitably some kind of problem.
ETA: When MH came home with the food he said the (always super nice) manager came out to apologize, and also said their whole system went down and they lost all their orders. Including upcoming Christmas orders. That sucks
Oh wow! 56 is super cold farmvillelover ! It's so cold in my office that my hands are freezing.
Let me check my thermostat...
It says 71.5. That's a damn lie! It's 58 degrees outside. I'm going to a holiday party and fortunately the theme is pajamas, so I'm totally going to wear my plush robe!
Here's a couple pics from our ice storm for reference. Except at my house. I'm not really complaining, but driving to work was like an alternate universe. 10 miles separates me from these images.
MrsDarcy, I'm not completely sure. Back in late June I had a big section of blue and purple in my hair. My next appointment was in August but my hair salon flooded when our town flooded and didn't reopen, so it's been 5.5 months and that blue and purple were still in my hair. Somewhat more pastel than they were but they were still pretty. This is a different brand of hair color so we'll see how it does but I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week so that helps it last. I'm hoping to make it 12 weeks before I want touch ups.
I am doing next to nothing this weekend because I realized that between Christmas and other things going on, I will not have a free weekend for over a month. I went and wrapped Christmas gifts this morning for a few hours for a local group that works to combat human trafficking. Other than that, I have done nothing but read, lay around, binge rewatch American Horror Story and work on a baby quilt. It's been pretty fabulous!
