I have to do an eviction today. It will be -40 today. The girls hasn't paid rent in 3 months and has blocked our phone calls. I still feel like a monster.
I have so much crap to get done, just cleaning mostly. I can't think of a present for H, and he can't think of one for me, given our financial situation, we are holding off until our bathroom is done-minus my lush spending spree.

This weekend is super busy. I can't believe Christmas is next week.
Tomorrow morning DH and I are helping friends lay wreaths at a local veterans cemetery. Then we are going to pick up our glider for the nursery and rearrange some furniture while we have some help. Tomorrow night is my running club's Christmas party. I'm also hoping we can manage a trip to the dump in there because we have so many boxes to get rid of.
Sunday I'm meeting with a book club for lunch. And DH and I may go out to watch the football game. I also want to squeeze in a 6-8 mile run sometime.
And we need to clean/pick up tonight a bit since we've been working on Christmas stuff. And we need to probably start packing/making a list for stuff to bring home since we leave Thursday afternoon for over a week away. Thankfully DH has off starting on Wednesday.
That is cold nicechicken but evictions have to be done. Hopefully it goes smoothly.
nicechicken, I think evictions would kill me. I'm thinking of you. Stay strong!
I just resisted the urge to spend $1k+ this morning on tickets to see Tom Petty at the amphitheater near here. I was really on the fence but I'm getting too old for that and I'm the only big fan here. I think I'd rather rent a boat extra days this summer and cruise around listening to TP than to go and potentially be disappointed with the cheap seats (still at $300) or way overspend on it.
No company holiday party (yeah!). My niece and her BF are coming tonight. Her boyfriend will be away for our family Christmas, so we are doing dinner and a movie tonight (Collateral Beauty for the ladies/Rogue One for the boys). Tomorrow we are doing early dinner at my fav seafood place and then going to see some holiday lights that are famous near here. Excited to hang with them.
House is clean, windows done too, decorations done, a few things to wrap. Inventory on groceries needed since we are hosting Christmas weekend, Friday night-Sunday night next week and leaving for Florida to see my parents on Monday, 12/26. We still have donations to make for year end. We did triple our donations this year, so happy about that.
It still feels like we have tons of stuff to get done!

The semester ended yesterday, so my break starts today! What does this mean? A) time to begin my Christmas shopping. I have a pretty small list, which is nice* B)omg, I have to catch up on all the alterations weir I have blown off in the last 5 weeks. Holy hell, it's a lot. C)I've hit the endurance phase of marathon training. 😳😳😳 D) I have to make mermaid blankets for all my nieces
*sidebar: we are staying local for Christmas, so we joined dh's family's gift exchange. I am annoyed that h and I are the ONLY ones who made actual lists. Everyone else requested gift cards. we may as well be handing each other $50 bills

We've got a winter storm warning from this afternoon through tomorrow night. I think we're staying in tonight with some wine and Christmas movies. Some of the local bars have Christmas parties (with free food) so might might hit up one or two this weekend. My department Christmas party is Saturday night and I'm undecided if I want to go because most of my work friends can't make it.

I hate doing this for family. It's not even worth exchanging gifts if it ends up at this point. My mom's side of the family just stopped doing regular exchanges and does a White Elephant exchange instead.

Oh! I also am looking for a gift for my 16 year old niece. She does not like anything regarding clothes/make-up (all my wheelhouse). My sister wants me to get her "experiences" She will be in DC, and lives near Seattle-any ideas?
H's family Christmas is tomorrow. Luckily H lied and said i have to work so i wont have to go. I told him that he's in charge of gifts (most of his family can't even remember my name and I've been around 6 years plus I'm tired of everything being my responsibility). He told me last night that he's not going to buy them anything. Y'all may remember me asking about age cutoffs for kids only exchanges--the kids we know are 12-16 and then they received an 8 year old foster kid 3 days ago. He's going to look like a monster, isn't he? I'm having serious anxiety issues over whether I should let him do that or if I should rush out and buy gifts for these kids that I haven't seen (by seen I actually mean interacted with) in years. I'm seriously hoping the weather gets bad so he can't travel there.
I'm going to the "I love the 90's" concert tonight. I'm pumped! We'll see Salt n Pepa, Coolio, Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, All 4 One, and some other one I keep forgetting (not someone I'm very familiar with). I freaking LOVED Salt n Pepa when I was in jr high. Still do, really! It's going to be fun. I just hope the weather cooperates, since we have about a 40 minute drive there on a highway that tends to suck when the weather is bad. It's supposed to snow but I'm hoping it's just flurries until we get home.
The rest of the weekend is not really planned. We are dog sitting so that's fun. Let's hope my landlord doesn't notice She's only going to be there about 48 hours so I feel like it's probably fine. And she's an older dog so no accidents/destruction. I'm looking forward to having a dog around. It's been 6 months since I became dogless and it's still a bummer.
I also want to watch Christmas movies this weekend. We haven't watched any yet this year and I feel like we need to get more excited for Christmas. We leave for Houston on Wednesday so it will be here before I know it.

Oh, a random/PSA! I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve card a few months ago, and today my bonus points arrived. I have almost $1800 in travel rewards to be used in the future! Plus I got my yearly $300 travel credit reloaded on this statement, so I was able to book all our domestic flights for our Thailand trip for about $90 out of pocket. 3 flights for 2 people. They are pretty cheap flights, but still - $90 is a steal.
So if you don't have that card yet and like to travel, I highly recommend!
Now I need to figure out where we want to go for our 1st anniversary trip (almost 14 months from now) using our rewards. South Africa? Australia? South America?

I have an annual work event tonight that I've never been able to attend. Last year would have been a celebration for a big work accomplishment, but I was pregnant and didn't have childcare, so I fully plan to have some belated celebration drinks! DH is home with the kids.

I haven't done any of the in laws. i refuse. His nephews don't like anything we get them and are always ungrateful. I stopped doing his brother and SIL after the year where they "forgot'' to get me a gift. We had been married a couple of years so it wasn't like I was a new girlfriend.
Finally got the Christmas cards sent out this week. So much for getting them done early even though I bought the cards before Thanksgiving.
We have some Christmas show to go to on Sunday and the kids want to go see Santa so I suppose we should do that on Saturday after skating lessons.
steph96 If it were me, I'd buy small under $10 gifts for the kids. Maybe a stuffed animal or something for the foster child. Poor kid has probably had a rough time lately and could probably use some love.
I'm done my Christmas shopping. It will rain all weekend here, so I'm probably going to be spending a lot of time on my bike trainer. I also have to go to Home Depot to replace a light that I accidentally broke the other day. In other words, a normal boring weekend.

nicechicken Your H needs to brave the crazed Lushies at Lush on the day after Christmas to hit up the BOGO sale for you. He needs to buy every single holiday bath bomb in the store as your Christmas present. That wont even come close to making up for not having a functioning bathroom for the past year but it is a good start!
I saw Rogue One last night and I am still just kinda sitting here going JNDSdojiwoiwoioitfou!! I fucking CRIED! I was awesome seeing it in a theater full of fans; lots of crowd interaction, gasps, laughs, and cheering. I am going to have to wait until Monday to go see it again. I'm going to get up early so I can snag a good seat so I can see it in IMAX at the local theater.
I need to get stocking stuff for my parents and a few more things for my Dad. Family party is tomorrow; running club party is Wed. My new kitten thinks it is her job to help me with the wrapping of presents... so everyone's wrapping has little holes in it
It's snowing like crazy here. We were supposed to move boxes and stuff to the new house this weekend but we rescheduled for Friday because of the weather. We plan on staying home all day tomorrow and maybe going to the new Star Wars movie on Sunday.
We had a big ice storm early this week. H worked 30 hours straight, came home for 14 hours, and is now working 18 hour days to help with three power out. Our is miraculously still on so I'm just binging on netflix in front of the fire. I only kind of feel bad.

H has this card too and his bonus is set to kick in at the end of the billing cycle. So many possibilities. It was also the reason I finally convinced him to get TSA precheck.
Another PSA related to that card, if you have other cards on Chase rewards, you can transfer them to the reserve account for yourself or household members. I got the Chase Preferred before the Reserve deal came out so I transferred all my points to H's where they're worth 1.5× for travel instead of 1.25. Got a free ticket to SE Asia with the points!

I'm in Louisiana this weekend and thankfully avoiding the winter Midwest weather. My sister graduated yesterday with her masters in nursing, so excited and proud of her! The rest of the weekend will. E family Christmas.

Can you get Global Entry at your local airport?
I really want to get it, but the website makes it look like the closest airport to us that does it is O'Hare (and maybe Midway too?). I can't figure out when it would be convenient for us to go there and get it done. I feel like if we have to make a special trip just for that, it negates the convenience factor. Which is a huge bummer.

We can get it here. I'm not sure if your closest airport has it but the one an hour away does. It was night next to my airport on the list when I went to schedule my appointment.
Last night DD1 stayed the night with a friend and DD2 and I went to see Rogue One.
Right now I'm getting ready to go to my hair appointment (SO overdue...I had an appointment the weekend it flooded and so now it's been almost 6 months since I've gone!). I'm going to a new stylist so hopefully all ends well.
H's flight arrives around 3:30 and if he isn't too tired we may take the girls ice skating tonight. Indoors, of course, because it's 75 degrees here.
Tomorrow we will go see Rogue One again so H and DD1 can see it. Hopefully DSS can make it, too. The rest of the day will just be some shopping and hanging out.

Ah. They do TSA precheck, but not global entry. That was my confusion. Maybe we need to get pre-check instead
