I don't know if any of you remember me, but I was on the TTTC and Grads boards when we were TTC my son a few years ago. We ended up doing IVF after 3.5 years and 3 m/c. One of them was an ectopic so I only have one tube and thought my chances of getting pregnant on our own were pretty much zip.
Then I got a positive test this morning. I'm equal parts excited and terrified. I called my OB's office and the nurse is going to get back to me, but I'm wondering how they will handle it re: betas, first ultrasound, etc. I think I'll go insane if I don't get an ultrasound until 12 weeks, but I know that is the norm for typical pregnancies.
I'd appreciate any good vibes, prayers, advice, etc.
Congrats! If you have a history of ectopic that's a good reason to push for early u/s. I had one, also lost a tube, and was told if I got pregnant again they would consider me high risk for another ectopic and I should ask for early u/s to be sure its in the right place. Ectopic that isn't caught early can be deadly. Mine nearly was.
But! Here's hoping everything is as it should be for you.
Congratulations! I think there are a couple of TTTC grads who got pregnant pretty easily after having a first baby from IVF. I have a mangled left tube and got pregnant 4 times following my ectopic, so it is definitely possible!
Ditto dellabear. They should do an u/s at about 6 weeks to confirm IUP.
Thank you everyone for the good vibes, thoughts, and prayers. They are so appreciated. I love this community.
I am still totally in shock. I know it happens, but I was sure it was not going to happen for us. And given my history, the likelihood of this being a healthy pregnancy isn't great. Praying I'm wrong though.
I got pregnant with DD1 after 3 cycles of IUI and Clomid and am now pregnant with my second spontaneous pregnancy since. Both my second and now third pregnancies have been treated like normal, healthy pregnancies with an ultrasound at 8 or so weeks. No betas with these last two at all.
I think your prior ectopic could change that though.
Congrats and I hope you have a sticky baby and a healthy 9 months!
Thank you again, everyone, for your kind words and support. I updated on MM Moms if you're interested... I don't want to clog up this board with non-IF stuff.
