It's only 5 days until 2017! What are your goals, plans, and/or resolutions for the new year?
I'm going to:
1) exercise for 30 minutes+ every day (including walking, yoga, and other gentle activities) 2) run at least 1200 miles in 2017 3) drop my race pace by at least a minute per mile over the 3-race series I did this year 4) complete a 30-day yoga challenge (maybe the Yoga With Adriene New Year challenge) 5) try lap swimming at least 10 times before April 6) find a way to add in strength work and do this for at least 3 months of 2017 (after yoga and swimming) 7) lose 15 lbs in a healthy way in 2017
If my knee/leg starts getting better and I'm able to get back to running more consistently: run the marathon I wanted to run in September. Flatter course and less humidity I believe will be the key.
If not: meh, just keep doing what I'm doing. Lifting, yoga 5+ times a week, and run short distances as tolerated.
I've been hard charging for six years now and I think I might be in a place where I just want to coast for awhile.
1 - train well and rock my first post baby marathon. Obviously I'd love a PR, but I'll take a solidly run race regardless of time.
2 - if I'm being perfectly honest, the above goal is my only HF one this year. Post marathon, we plan to TTC #2 so my goal is to just keep up with running if that happens.
I think my goal is to take it easy this year! I went from never having run more than 5 miles to running 5 half marathons and a full in a little over a year. I feel like this last year has been one goal after another, which was great in some respects but daunting in others.
So since 2016 saw meeting a pretty huge goal...I'm feeling a bit aimless right now. Thus taking it easy. I think I'd like to try to get back to being a little faster. Running longer distances has really slowed me down. Would be nice to PR a 5K this year.
1. Continue to get faster for time trials at the velodrome. 2. A medal at the Masters National Track Championships or a time trial PR. 3. Have fun and continue to be healthy!
1) Continue to have an active and healthy pregnancy for these last 10 wks. 2) Hopefully have a smooth and low intervention delivery. 3) Find a healthy balance for our new family of three. (Eating, exercising, SLEEPING, etc.) 4) Hopefully have a smooth transition back to running, and somehow manage to train and run Chicago in Oct. The BOB is all set up and waiting for her. LOL
1. Wean Hobbes in a way that works for both of us. We are actually almost there, down to one nursing session/day. (She is 13.5 mo.)
2. Goal weight = my pre-baby healthy off-season weight, also my weight when I got pregnant. I need to lose about 7 lbs. which have stuck like GLUE while nursing.
3. Regain overall fitness.
4. Train for and run a healthy and enjoyable Covered Bridges Half in early June.
5. Figure out where working out consistently fits the best in my life now that I have a LO, and make it a permanent priority to balance.
ETA: 6. I am starting a mini-yoga streak on 1/1: I will do a sun salutation every day, as a way to guarantee that even on days I don't workout, I am moving and using my body, and stretching.

Continue to incorporate yoga into the plan, yoga with Adrienne is interesting to me as I won't be able to continue at the yoga studio I am currently doing a weekly session at.
Figure out a new plan, meeting with potential personal trainer tomorrow to see if that might work for me. Not a big fan of traditional gyms but I need strength training like whoa.
2017 is a big year for me: 1) Re-establish and commit to the new normal H&F wise- given schedule changes at home recently and busy season at work coming up. 2) Use my beautiful new Believe journal 3) Running-wise, have fun Jan-April and keep the eye on the prize- bucket list race in October (50 miler) 4) Stay healthy/happy/sane and injury free (right knee I'm looking at you......)
2016 was huge for me. I lost a lost 30lbs+, PR'd every race distance by a crap ton, managed to get almost all the body weight movements in CF, and ran 5 half marathons along with a bunch of shorter distance races. How can I top all that? I had lofty goals and hit each one better than I ever imagined I could. It was a great year but with so many goals to hit I feel like I burned out, especially on running.
2017 goals will include:
-CrossFit competitions - I didn't do any this year since I was focused on running
-Continue with the volume of CrossFit I do and get better at it overall.
-Continue running but shorter distances. I'm completely OK with running 4-6 miles and am looking forward to not having all those double digit runs looming over my head.
-Lose enough to get into a position where I feel like I can mass/bulk. Which really means lose all this holiday fluff plus a little more.
-Maybe PR my 5k. I dropped 4 minutes or more this year and maybe I can drop another 1 or 2. In almost impossible territory maybe get sub 20? Like what is that pace? I don't even want to know.

1. Continue to exercise 5-6 days a week. 2. Get back into running and do at least one race. 3. I have a weight goal in mind but I don't want to put it out there. I really want 2017 to be the year I focus less on weight and more on health.
ETA: I have decided to set a running goal of 500miles for the year. I know it doesn't seem like a lot but I'm just starting out so I think it is a reasonable/doable goal that I won't injury myself to achieve. That's about 9.5 miles a week and I will likely only run 2-3 days/week so it seems like a good place to start.

- Find activities that will allow me to drop weight and improve strength, especially to support my back - Get back to the activities I love, especially running. At this point, I would be happy if I could get to 8-10 miles
As much as I would love to say I want to PR another half this year, I don't think it's going to happen. I am OK with that. As long as I get to eventually just run.
* Get more comfortable on my bike and race a duathlon.
* Survive an Olympic distance tri with DH, and possibly beat him (it all comes down to the bike!)
* work on getting my speed back, especially in the shorter distances. I'm planning on the Summer of 5k's!
* I'm holding off on my Fall goals, maybe a marathon, maybe a 50 miler, or maybe a short distance PR. I'll decide this summer which goal seems the most fun.
I love these posts, and I love catching up on what everyone is doing and hearing your goals, plans, and dreams. Serious awesome.
1) Run April half marathon and train well enough for it that it isn't miserable.
2) 5K stroller PR. I think I only need to beat about 28:00.
3) Work back to a somewhat consistent running schedule that is agreeable for me, H, and Speedy. I was doing well at the end of summer and fall but somehow winter is just kicking my butt this year.
4) Make my own mental well-being and physical fitness and goals a priority again. I don't know exactly what this looks like, but I do know I will go crazy if I don't keep a race and a goal somewhere on the horizon.
This is hard because it all hinges on race lotteries working in my favor. If they do, my #1 goal is to run my first 50 miler. If they don't, I plan on at least 1 50K, my 13th marathon on my 33rd birthday, and hopefully at least 1 Olympic tri. I PRd so much last year I'm not putting any pressure on myself to this year.
2017 is going to be the year of training for me. I only know my work schedule till June 30, so races are based off that for now. But overall for the year I hopefully consistently train 6 days a week.
For running - 2 half marathons and a 15k for the spring.
Triathlon - these will be my first. I'm doing swimming lessons now and plan to do Olympic distances in June.
Mine: PR London Marathon (under 3:43:14) Run a 1:35 Half Marathon (thinking Sweden will be this one) Do a Sprint, Sprint Plus and Olympic distance Triathlon Chicago Marathon Stay injury-free
I also have a super secret goal, but it's insane and frankly beyond me, so it sounds stupid to even mention it. But I have some excellent support to at least attempt it so I will give it a go.
