Enjoy your day off! I wondered if it would have to be a crazy amount to call off ahead of time in AK. Guess not! (Though I'm guessing the end of the year/between major holidays also played a part in the decision!)

We were planning on closing early at noon tomorrow anyway. But several of my co-workers live in the Mat-Su Valley and their commute would be treacherous (an hour one way) to drive all the way in, and then have to drive back 4 hours later. The boss decided it wouldn't be fair to the rest of us, so he gave all of us the day off with pay. Woo hoo!

Really stupid question but the responses confused me and I am stupid. Are will talking inches or feet? If inches, I am surprised it would close for that amount in Alaska nonetheless but have a nice day off!
4-7" in Anchorage; much more out in the Valley, which is a one-hour trip one-way for people who live out there. The highways will be a nightmare driving. The plan already was to have the office open a half day; why should my co-workers risk their safety to drive all the way into town, and then drive all the way back.
Contrary to popular belief, we don't get snowfalls that are measured in feet--at least not in Southcentral Alaska. Further north or in the Prince William Sound--for sure--but not here.

Interesting, thanks for explaining! Enjoy your snow day
