Motherhood update and I want to AW my baby (PIP)

B is 5.5 weeks. He's a long skinny guy, > 99th percentile for length. He has been so socially engaged since the first couple of weeks and it increases every day. Both grandmas think he is very advanced, naturally.

On my end, I have been trying to make more of an effort to establish a routine for him and give him plenty of opportunity for naps during the day - it seems to be really paying off! He is stretching out his feeding schedule (was nursing 40 minutes out of every two hours, including nights). Now we are getting a good five hour stretch of sleep at night and usually more time between feedings during the day. We have been getting out of the house a lot since day 1 - walks, restaurants, play dates, classes, shopping, mom's group, nail salon. It makes me feel more human.

My next goal is to get some time out of the house alone but my supply is kind of low so i havent yet been able to pump large enough quantities to have any extra bottles for while i am gone. I met with a lactation consultant yesterday so hopefully her tips will help.

He was born a week late so I am crossing my fingers that we actually went through that in week 5 already. But who knows!

Wow, that flew by! Hope you and C are doing well! I would love to get together. There's a baby consignment shop in Union Square I was hoping to get to next week, maybe we could get together then. I will PM you soon.

He's so cute! If you're open to taking something to try to boost your supply I cannot recommend Motherlove More Milk Plus enough. I would use it for a week or so when I needed to boost back up a touch, and it would really help. I can't stand tea so I never drank the teas that are supposed to help, but that might be another idea. Another thing I read that I did with DS when pumping was to finish pumping, unhook, and then lean forward and grab your breasts and kind of gently shimmy them (this is making me laugh to remember because it sounds so dumb but helped), gently massage, and then repeat with the shimmy. I'd end up getting about and extra ounce/ounce and a half after it if I pumped for a few more minutes.

Yes, my LC recommended More Milk Plus because fenugreek didn't help, I am ordering it today. Glad to hear it worked so well for you. I will give the pumping trick a shot too, thanks!
