It is true refugees were responsible for a bombing on the US military in Kentucky back in 2011? I'm now enagaged in a debate after I commented on a meme about, "why refugees... homeless veterans...". I'm sticking to the facts and that incident in Kentucky was brought up and I hadn't heard of it before.
Not true. Yes, they were responsible for attacks in IRAQ - not Kentucky. This is what caused the Obama Admin to stop the refugee process for Iraq for six months - to get it tightened further.
"As a result of the Kentucky case, the State Department stopped processing Iraq refugees for six months in 2011, federal officials told ABC News – even for many who had heroically helped U.S. forces as interpreters and intelligence assets. One Iraqi who had aided American troops was assassinated before his refugee application could be processed, because of the immigration delays, two U.S. officials said. In 2011, fewer than 10,000 Iraqis were resettled as refugees in the U.S., half the number from the year before, State Department statistics show."

Also, the reason for the 6 month pause was to re-process everyone who had already arrived to ensure there were no others like the Kentucky people.
Jesus Christ. There was a credible threat, there was action, and it was resolved. It related only to Iraqi refugees; not green card holders, not other countries, etc. That is all very different from what is happening now.
Thank you for your replies! I wrote him back and not surprisingly, no response. I hate getting into these Facebook debates, but I feel like it's up to "us" to hit people with the facts. Even though often times it proves fruitless 😕
Last night on FB, people were comparing the EO to the 2011 incident, and also confusing/combining the 2011 incident and the 2015 act where after the Paris attacks, visitors who wouldn't normally be required to have visas were temporarily required to apply for a visa if they'd recently visited certain countries. People were talking about all of this interchangeably, and still could not seem to understand the differences between both of those events and the current EO.
"[BUT FOX NEWS TELLS ME] THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!!"
