I love this blanket from Land of Nod and want to make a twin sized version for my son. It's been quite some time since I've crochet, but I am comfortable with my skills. What type of stitch do you think would work well for this design?
If you go through the back loop only, SC or HDC will give you a nice ridge, like the knitted garter stitch used in that blanket. It's used to mimic knitting fairly often! Though, I have to throw out there, a child sized garter stitch blanket is an awesome beginner knitting project.
I like half-double crochet stitches. Single crochet can be too dense and I find double crochet to be too loose sometimes.
If you want the height of double crochets without the loose/gaping holes - try a linked double crochet - so easy and it takes care of those pesky holes. Save
