Anyway - apparently she took a trip to Syria - normalish fact finding mission I guess and ended up meeting with Assad. I don't know if the right is trying to take her down or if she really misstepped.

I side eye Tulsi a lot, especially because she is a very very conservative dem. Especially with this Asaad trip. The Berners love her though. Not sure why because she is much more conservative than HRC and Obama.

Okay, it was pinging for me but I couldn't figure out what I was missing (knowing nothing I had her pinned -wrongly I guess - as super liberal and couldn't reconcile that with meeting with Assad).
I need to look at her votes to get a better sense of her.

Well, there's the Logan Act. That's what people are claiming for the Flynn calls to Russia in December. And it seems like it would apply here.
There was the weird secrecy about the trip. She didn't say she had gone til later, she refused to divulge who paid for the trip, she secretly met with Assad, and now she's paying back the organization who paid for her trip.
She filed a required disclosure to the House after she returned. She provided zero details as to what she did on this trip.
She also said on CNN: "Why is it that the United States, its allies and other countries, are providing support, are providing arms, to terrorist groups like Al-Nusta, Al-Qaeda, ISIS, woh are on the ground there, raping, kidnapping, torturing, and killing the Syrian people?"
