Howdy!
We did something H&G related for the first time in forever this weekend - we replaced a toilet (exciting, right?)! The process reinforced, once again, our commitment to never again buy a house that was previously owned by a GC. OMG, this guy was the absolute worst. We replaced the toilet because it clogged frequently and the final straw was that one of the bolts holding it on seemed to be in free space, so we were concerned it would leak. So, we bought a new cadillac of a toilet (WTH ARE ALL TOILETS SO DAMN TALL THESE DAYS?) and R installed it. The reason the toilet was rocking and the bolt wasn't attached? THE MF-ER PUT THE FLANGE IN CROOKED AND TRIED TO COVER IT UP BY TWISTING THE TOILET TO BE STRAIGHT ONCE IT WAS ATTACHED. So the bolt wasn't even remotely in the flange, and now our new toilet is crooked because better crooked than floating randomly. UGH. Also, he put the damn flange into the subfloor instead of the regular floor (which is hardwood), so there's like a good half inch of free space that has to be taken up by the world's tallest wax ring pile. Dumbass x50.
Ok, so that was more of a vent. But whatever. NHG-related, I have literally 6 knitting projects going right now and I'm not at all motivated to finish *any* of them. Several are like, an hour away from being finished. WHY can't I buckle down and complete something??

OMG, I can't imagine finding another DIY special every time you go to fix/replace something mrs.jacinthe,
I'm just popping in to say "hello." Any H&G projects I tackle will have to be minimal cost this year. We've got 2 in daycare now and we decided to take a real vacation for the first time in a while.

It's infuriating. Couldn't the man have done *something* correctly? ANYTHING? Between the crooked damn toilet and the portal to hell in our family room, I'm royally pissed about everything right now.
We knew going in that an old house was a money pit, but we figured a damn GC would at least do things *correctly*. How wrong we were. (and now I know that being a GC doesn't mean you know how to do freaking ANYTHING)

I really want to do something H&G related, but since I'm planning to sell later this year I can't muster any interest in expending energy on this place. And damn I will miss this little house.
mrs.jacinthe, I still curse the former owners of my house on a regular basis!

I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.
I also got 2 projects stained and poly'd this weekend. I need to bring one in to see if it's too dark. DH says he likes it, so I think it will work. I also have all the frames for my gallery wall just need to hang them (DH is going to kill me).
ETA:We also had a floor outlet wired under the house and need to figure out placement during our warranty walk through. I guess for now it will just be under the couch in case we one day do a different seating arrangement. I know that if we didn't wire for it, we would need it! I'm still trying to talk DH into an arc or tall lamp by the back corner-ish vs. trying to build in a small console table on that wall on the right.

Are you moving out of town or just across town?
When I graduate I am outta here. Probably back up near my family.

We turned in one TDI last week and turn in the other in less than two weeks; so, we buckled down and found a new car for me since we got one for H back in November. I had been researching for several weeks and really wanted a used Forester but couldn't find one in my max price range. Instead, I found a handful of Countryman AWD, and decided to go that route if it drove well. I love it!
We're also moving forward with a bathroom renovation. It's a temp-to-perm fix depending on how we decide to tackle other restroom in 5-6 years and/or if we decide to leave. We narrowed down our selections this weekend so we can move on it in two weeks.

Can you tell me the store, name, and brand of this couch? Thanks!

Back in January, I started feeding a feral cat because he seemed to have "pet potential". A few weeks ago, another showed up, so I started feeding him too. Then, a third cat; this time, a girl. Then the girl went into heat, and I had to take her into my home, but I fear she is already pregnant. Her spaying appointment is still 11 days away. So I went from having 1 cat, to 4 cats, in the space of a few weeks.

Our beloved cat Vivian is sick. I had to take her to the emergency vet yesterday at 6am. Lethargic, not eating, drinking, or using litter box. Ugh. They did bloodwork, urine and xrays and didn't find anything beyond some asshole shot her with a BB gun before we got her. Why are people so awful? They gave her fluids, a gastro med and anti-nausea med. She's eating a bit, but still not drinking. I'm so worried! Urine results are not back yet, but if she isn't better tomorrow I'm going to take her for an ultra-sound. My poor kitty! We love her so much, she's honestly the BEST cat. My DD2 recently taught her how to fetch! HA! You throw a pipe cleaner and she will go get it and bring it back to you.
munkii, - I'm so jealous! I miss my mini so much. I really hate this Traverse that I drive now, but ILs gave us a screaming deal on it and it is practical because I drive another kid home from school. I told DH that if my business is still doing so well in 2 years, I'm ditching the Traverse and getting a Countryman!
