Can't wait to hear from the posters who always contend that it's "safe" for off-duty cops to carry their weapons around at all times because, you know, they are SO well-trained and safe with their weapons!!1!!
This shit is why they don't need special exemptions.
I'd like to see the longer version, since that's their defense. "There was more than this snippet." Someone in comments said they saw the longer video and it shows how out-of-control the officer was in the situation. But otherwise, for the most part don't read the comments. A bunch of "build the wall" shit beyond the few showing some common sense.
I've now watched several different angles of videos and I am so confused as to what the fuck is going on. This grown ass man is putting his hands on this kid...why? Because they cut across his yard and said some shit?? He comes across as almost drunk - the way he's just dragging the kid around refusing to let go for absolutely no fucking reason. All he had to do was let go. Just let the kid go.
And then to actually pull your fucking gun because the kids friends are trying to get you to stop hurting him?
He didn't actually shoot anybody right? Just fired the gun? But then they arrested two of the KIDS instead of this GROWN ASS MAN who decided to lay his hands on this child and fired his weapon for no goddamn reason.
In fact...the closer video kiiiinda makes it look like this jackass fired the weapon accidentally when he tried to grab the kids waistband with teh same hand that was holding the gun. Not that that's better...I mean, I'm not sure that it's worse, but it's also no better. There's just a whole pile nope for this shitwagon regardless.
Also - Is this a thing - off-duty cops "detaining" people? At what point is it just...I dunno...kidnapping? I know the cops have pretty broad leeway to detain people with probable cause or whatever up to a certain timeframe. Does that extend to off-duty cops cranky about kids stepping on his petunias??

This is so wrong. A 13 year old kid yelled at a property owner who used profanity when talking to a minor girl about cutting or walking on his lawn... that doesn't mean, you get to detain the kid or grab him at all. And it sure as FUCK does not mean you get to fire a gun when a bunch of middle school kids keep telling you to let their friend go and then push or try to get their friend away. And again FUCK YOU because you assaulted a minor first!
Also, it says something that the kids are heard talking about having called the cops and then asking to call again. In my experience, kids don't do that if they're the ones that start it.

I heard that in the video. At least two times kids are talking about if the cops should be called again as the boy is dragged around by that jerk.
Plus we teach our kids to help others who are bullied and from my perspective, it looks like this adult is just a total bully and freaked out about his stupid lawn, so I don't fault the kids who tried to get their friend away because those are the ones who acted on helping.
