hmmm....strange flght to choose
there are a few border airports in TX i've been to that had INS officers right at the TSA and ask "citizen?" and you say yes or no. I guess they can ask for proof if they think youare lying and/or answer "NO". Maybe Mcallen or Laredo??

Not even hiding racial profiling. "if they think you are lying" AKA if you're a POC. Because I guarantee you they won't suspect my white Irish ass of lying.

So there must be some states that give illegal immigrants an ID? That's what realID was supposed to fix?
You need an ID to get past TSA, so CBP would have to detain anyone from a non-realID state who wasn't traveling with a passport, if they weren't going to engage in skin tone based profiling.
Not sure I'm mad at this, but at the same time all us non-realID have another 11 months to get a passport or have the state comply and get a new ID.
From the article it sounds like they were looking for a specific person that was convicted on multiple charges and had received a deportation order. I think the article also stated that these checks also happened under Obama. I can't get mad about this.

If they had a specific person they were looking for, that means they had a physical description of some sort. Do if they limited their search to people who matched that description, then I might not be bad. But they didn't. There was no need to check everybody.
If they were looking for a specific individual, then they'd work with the airline to find out what seat that particular person was assigned to and not search papers for all passengers.
Also, according to an ACLU legal director this isn't appropriate.

California Assembly Bill 60 ( AB-60) is a bill passed into law that, in effect, allows illegal immigrants to the United States to apply for a California driver's license with the CA Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
This is a special driver's license that:
May NOT be used for identification purposes.
MAY be used to drive anywhere throughout the state of California.
Has a distinguishing feature and notice on the front of the license indicating that it is for driving purposes only, per the AB-60 law (i.e. “DP" instead of “DL").
Cannot be used against the license holder to determine their immigration status or citizenship, or detain them in any way for reasons other than valid traffic violations.

Yeah, CA has zero say in whether or not the Feds decide to use that in an initial determination of immigration status. They can definitely use it.
