Anyone prepping for Lent? Giving anything up?
Last year I tried giving up "skipping Mass" for Lent, and even failed at that, so this year I'm determined to be better.
So far, the plan is to give up meat (except seafood, because seafood is vegetables of the ocean), do a 47 day Lenten bible study on my Bible app, and actually make a real effort to go to Mass each Sunday (and holy days) between now and Easter. We'll see how that goes.
I have this one particular friend that is pretty anti-religion, but is doing all these Lent things because she loves everything Italy and "all the Italians do it", and I'm at the BEC point with her. My good friend suggested that I give up my BEC attitude towards her for Lent and I'm all, "let's not set ourselves up for failure, ok?"
I am not religious but I think it is a nice idea to give something up for 40 days in honor of those who normally go without. I don't typically give something up but I might this year.
I think your ideas are good, I'm impressed you are doing more than one thing. Super star!

It's because I suck so badly at the actual follow through that, if I have multiple, one might actually get completed!
Omg, your friend. I have so many things to say but I won't.
I haven't really thought about it, I've got SO much going on. This Lent season is a busy one for us. I think a Bible study would be good, since my spiritual walk has been seriously lacking. I know I can squeeze 15 minutes into my day and do a devotion. I spend more than 15 minutes here everyday.

I use a Bible app (literally called "Bible") that has a bunch of different reading plans for various topics. I really like it!

I have that app too, I use it for church. For Bible studies/daily devotionals, my SIL told me about She Reads Truth, and I've seen it recommended here as well. They have some free studies and some pay ones. I just downloaded a Lent study and set a reminder!

pooh8402, have you ever used Laudate for Mass? It has a great "Confession" section that helps me streamline my time so I'm not passing the Priest a box of danish and a coffee and telling him to get comfortable.

Well I'm not Catholic, so no. My non-denom Protestant churches have always observed Lent, though.

I usually do meatless Fridays and then give something up. This year I am not, because of the pregnancy. I am going to try to find a new church this year though in our new town.
I am a fan of paczki, and am thankful my favorite bakery has them all of Lent, so I will be going out there this weekend for some.
