We are well stocked, and I really really really want to use my snowshoes one more time this year. The wood stove is already roaring in the basement and our woodshed is still pretty full. #Cozy
We live walking distance from a store, so we never do the crazy stocking up dance. But I do think DH is running to the store tonight for stuff for chili tomorrow night.
School are already closed for tomorrow. I am probably going to be staying home from work.
This winter has been so mild that I'm not even stressed about this storm. I'm kind of looking forward to having a random day off.
mbcdefg you have the perfect snow day supplies. Not sure about the bologna though lol
I wouldn't mind a bologna sandwich (although I've been avoiding cold cuts - after birth I'm asking MH/my family to bring me a big oil and vinegar-soaked sub sandwich, lol), but he likes it fried. Blerp.
Should I also confess that I got two kinds of chips and two kinds of Hostess treats? And they're full boxes of Hostess treats, not the single packs?

lol I do shit like this and then I wonder:
You have the perfect excuse to be indulging during the storm! Do not feel bad about it one bit!!

Went to the grocery store earlier just to make sure since tomorrow is usually when I go. School was cancelled already and kids came home thrilled for yet another snow day. Just hoping we don't lose power and that my husband doesn't try to drive into the office (or drive us nuts here).
I went this weekend for party stuff for yesterday.
We were told if we can make it in, try to. Because even if the governor has a state of emergency, it's only the highways and not the side roads so we will be ok.
I will be home shoveling and enjoying a snow day with my kids.
Although this much snow is going to screw up my week.

Bought 2 giant pizzas (dinner tonight, leftovers for the next 2 days), kids currently having movie night bc I've told them school will be canceled. They are psyched. We have cinnamon rolls for the AM and some fresh soup, plus cookie baking supplies. We are set.
We got about six inches here in Michigan today. It's Day 6 working from home for me so I was thrilled not to have to go out! It took poor DH twice as long as normal to get to work today.
UnderProtest I hope we don't lose power either but am charging everything I can tonight. I hope your husband doesn't try to drive in!
Oooh, good call on the charging. I'm not used to dealing with snow and definitely not snow with wind as they are predicting. I did drag the outdoor furniture back to its storage spot after my overzealous husband had already dragged it out. Hopefully that won't go flying.

After hurricane Sandy we have a whole "storm preparedness" protocol. We were without power for 10 days and learned so much!

We've got about 6 inches so far and it's supposed to keep coming down. I have to drive to Chicago tomorrow and I'm wondering if I'm crazy. I'm hoping to just leave early to best the worst of rush hour. At least I have nice co-workers who will let me crash if I get there and the weather's too Crappy to drive home.

We went grocery shopping yesterday, did all laundry, stocked up on water, charged all phones & iPads, picked up batteries, and even started up the generator that I bought 2 years ago (just to make sure we knew how to work it). School is cancelled for tmrw and my husband has the day off -- he had to double up his day today to make that happen. We plan on painting the bathroom and I'm not sure what else!

Have flashlights handy
Put away or tie down anything outside (wind can be as big/bigger danger than snow)
Run the dishwasher and washer/dryer before the storm in case you lose power
Fill your car's gas tank if you haven't already, and stop by the ATM for some cash
I was planning on going to work today (hospital) but the trains have already suspended service to any above ground lines, so mine is not running.
Guess I'm home with the dogs!
I'm actively focusing on changing my body composition so we only have really unexciting food. Plus H is in Miami for work, so I'm stuck with my carrots alone. Double whammy.
I never lost power in Chicago from snow. Good reminder to go charge my devices. Thanks!
Sitting on my ass is my plan. I will do some exercising in the house at some point. So far the snow is weak; I am sure my boss is internally screaming for closing us all day and not just closing early and having us open for a bit.
I got my junk food over the weekend, DH got into it. Telework between being a revolving door for the puppies we have about a foot, it's compressing as the latter falling snow has been much heavier - not sure how much really fell. It was hitting higher on the dogs at 4:30 this morning don't think I'm going anywhere anytime soon, unless I feel like cleaning off the truck.

tacom, I grew up in the Midwest and only once lost power due to a really bad snowstorm. Apparently it is quite common up here (all overhead lines) and a ton of people have generators at their house. Its backward to me too! My only hope is that because we are close to two schools, we might be high on the priority list if it does go down.
Well we only got a few inches so far but it's pretty icy out so we both stayed home anyway.
Somebody's kitty was outside meowing. I tried to check on it but it ran away. I really don't understand an outdoor cat in the middle of the city in general, but especially putting it outside with a bunch of snow on the ground.

it's definitely a change. I remember slipping and sliding all over the highway in my little Honda Fit heading into the hospital on some particularly bad mornings.
they close down here much quicker. it's nice to not have to worry about your safety.
