I recently started taking Lexapro for anxiety. My doctor started me off taking half of his prescribed dosage every morning just to get me adjusted. I was fine, no significant side effects. Now that I'm taking the full dosage, I am so drowsy in the morning. Will this side effect subside over time? Should I start taking it at night, even though my doctor said to take it in the morning? I can still function throughout the day (it's not like I can't keep my eyes open), but as someone who already lacks in energy, this feeling is definitely making my days tougher.
I take Paxil and my doctor recommended it before bed. I always take mine in the evening. I had just increased my dosage and was barely able to function because I was so tired. He reduced it back down and my energy has returned.
I take Zoloft and take it at night even though it says to take it in the morning. My drowsiness disappeared and I don't feel like the efficacy of the medication changed.
I take Celexa at night because it makes me too drowsy and I had to stay on the lower dose instead of going up because even after 5 weeks at the higher dose I was too drowsy.

I take lexapro and my doctor suggested taking it at bedtime to limit the drowsiness. I haven't noticed any side effect since I'm already tired and on my way to sleep when I take it.
Can you ask the pharmacist? I find them tremendously helpful with this type of question. Your doc likely doesnt know as much about the drug as the pharmacist.
I took Zoloft at night. I had very vivid dreams, but they were not of the disturbing variety, they were actually pretty neat.
I take Zoloft at night, as well, and my dreams are incredibly vivid. I was wondering what was causing that, as I never really remembered my dreams before!
Thanks everyone for the tips. I have a follow-up appointment with my doctor next week, but I think I'll talk to the pharmacist today and see what they say about switching to taking it at night.
I take celexa in the morning otherwise, even though it makes me a little drowsy, if I take it at night my restless legs are so much worse. I've only been on it for 7 weeks though, but the drowsiness has definitely subsided.
That being said, I don't think it matters when you take it, but talk to your doctor.
My Dr always told me to take it at whatever time worked for me. Celexa gives me a burst of energy and some messed up dreams, so I take it in the morning.
