I feel like I needed more than responses were given. One of the expressions was "where's my food bitch" and another one was "I'm going to pounce on you and you will die motherfucker." I wasn't sure how those fit into the positive and negative categories. I marked the food one as. negative because hunger = bad and I marked the pouncing one as positive because cats think fucking shit up is fun.
I feel like almost all of them were unhappy. I know my cat's face best - I realize that sounds crazy - and she almost always looks happy. When she looks like most of those photos, she is sick, being harassed by my 6YO or the dog, or pissed for some other reason.
Basically, if a cat looks bored or grumpy, I assume they are happy. Anything more expressive than that and I assume they are not. This could be projection based on my own cats.
I felt like the opposite, if they were still or bored looking I assumed they were stressed but if the were looking twitchy I assumed they were having fun.
OP, please have your colleagues come in here and enlighten us!
