Five other girlfriends and I are headed to NY City next week. We have a lot of fun things on our list to do, but any other advice or things that we shouldn't miss?
I haven't been to NY in about 17 years, so it's been a long time. There is one friend that works in/around NY every 4-6-months, but most of us haven't been there in awhile. We are there about 5-6 days.
Here's what we've looked to do so far and I'm happy for opinions on what to hit and what to skip:
Central Park visit - picnic maybe?
Highline Visit and Chelsea shopping
Yoga somewhere (any suggestions? - staying here Manhattan south of Central Park around E 37th and Park)
MOMA
My friend's favorite Korean food
Visit a old friend who lives in Manhattan
A couple are planning to go to the Statue of Liberty
If you don't care about getting up close and personal with the Statue of Liberty, you can get good views of it (and of Manhattan) on the Statem Island Ferry for the low price of FREE.
I really enjoyed Top of the Rock. It's kinda pricey, but the timed entry ticket reduces the time you spend waiting in a line. Great views, including seeing the Empire State Building.
When I went last, we stayed in Brooklyn, so we wound up riding the East River Ferry, which was cheap and had great views. Maybe slightly odd, but we really like riding boats on vacation!
You really have to think about what you want to do - museums, shopping, walking around neighborhoods/people watching, theater, etc. MoMA is an excellent choice. Give yourself a LOT of time. You can leave and come back - when I went, we did about 6 hours total and broke for lunch in the middle. You obviously don't have to spend that long, but you can. The Guggenheim is smaller so won't take as long. The Met is another huge one.

Dinner/drinks at Hotel Gansevoort
I'd consider please don't tell as a novel outing (it is a secret bar - there are others in the city that have more food). Watson adventures does scavenger hunts all over the city that are fun. I found the central park one really interesting. I also did one in the met.
If you have time I'd do the tenement museum. It is one of my favorite places. I also like the Cloisters, but it is far from the other popular things to do. For the high line -- it is great but very very crowded. Just keep that in mind.
This is a good yoga studio --https://iyengarnyc.org/ If you've never done this style before I'd do level 1.
If the weather is nice you can walk the Brooklyn bridge. IF you plan to go to Dylan's I'd suggest overshooting on the F to Roosevelt Island and then taking the tram back. It will get you very close and give you some great views.
The late-night halal cart near Radio City Music Hall Shake Shack ditto MoMA Pommes Frites
Brooklyn:
Delaware and Hudson Fette Sau barbecue Vinny's of Carroll Gardens, for Italian food
If you like craft beer then check out:
Manhattan: Blind Tiger Ale House (this is on Bleecker Street and there are a lot of neat shops and restaurants there anyway), The Ginger Man, Rattle n' Hum, Barcade (craft beer and vintage video games)
Brooklyn: Other Half Brewery, Torst, Barcade, Finback Brewery

I'm loving all these ideas! Getting so excited. Definitely theater and craft beer for me... several of my other friends are gluten free, but said they'd come along with me anyway.
mbcdefg, Pomme Frites, I forgot how much I love those!
The Whitney is now in the meat packing district at the end of the highline. One World is really great and you buy a specific time so you don't really have a long wait.

I'm just back from 5 glorious days ago by myself in NYC. I spent a woale day at the Met, a whole day at natural history. And nearly a whole day at the Bronx zoo where I totally made eye contact with a gorilla. I had the best croissant of my life somewhere on the upper West side. I had perfect weather and spent as lot of time peoplewatching in central park.
