We are looking to do a FET next month so I have to get an SHG done Thursday since my period started. Should I take motrin or anything before? I had an HSG years ago when we were doing IUIs and I remember strong cramping during the procedure and some bleeding after.
Also, if you've had it done did insurance cover? I don't remember paying for the HSG even though we do not have infertility coverage on our insurance.
Yea, definitely take Motrin. 800 mg about an hour beforehand.
I don't think my insurance covered last time (we'll see this time). It was rolled into the overall cost of my IVF cycle because she did the mock transfer at the same time, which definitely wasn't covered.
I had one a couple of months ago, it was not painful. But I also don't think there would be an issue in taking something if you tend to get cramps since you aren't yet in an active cycle.
My insurance doesn't cover it, I had to pay OOP, I think both for my initial IVF and for the FET. Maybe it was part of your overall package when you did IVF?
My insurance covered it but I have IF coverage. I had no pain at all with it (and I did with the HSG). It's mostly like an IUI except with a little saline.
When I had it done last time it was with my OB while we were doing IUI's. When we switched to IVF my RE didn't make me do one, or a mock transfer. I hope insurance covers it but we'll see I guess.
I had an extremely painful HSG, and I dont' remember my SHG hurting at all. Mine was covered by insurance - my insurance covered up until my IF diagnosis, so it covered all of these diagnostic tests. Hoping yours goes well.
