We haven't had a check-in in a while, so I guess it's about time.
My life has gotten crazy lately and I love it. Real estate is absolutely what I was meant to do. I like helping people, and I like filling out forms. Those two things together make me absurdly happy. LOL (And hey - shameless self-promotion ahead - if you need a realtor somewhere, PM me. I can get you a referral or, if you're moving to NorCal, I can help you!) I'm pretty awesome.
R started a new job on Monday (he was laid off ~2 months ago) and he seems a lot happier, but the commute is an absolute killer - almost an hour. I hope he likes the job well enough to keep up the commute.
We're getting ready to re-landscape the yard with water-wise plants and it's taking us forever to decide on things.

I'm happy as I feel like we are making progress.
We replaced the light and doorbell in our entryway and managed to find a table and a bench in one day. As soon as we replace the closet doors (which we bought and just need to paint) that room will be done. That will make two rooms completely done!
We also made a plan for the backyard (YAY!) and I can't wait to be able to enjoy the patio!

ARGH!!! It's been pouring rain and we have a leak in the ceiling in the kitchen extension. We're not sure if it's from the skylight or a leak in the ceiling area. No one can fix this until the rain ends. I hope to GOD our contractor can get someone here tomorrow to fix stuff, but we'll definitely have to put up some new plaster/paint in the area as it's getting all ruined. Bah!

I am so happy for you! PIP your before and after landscaping pics!SaveSave

We finally have our backyard the way we want it. I need to buy some annuals and fill my pots to put around the patio. My in-laws are moving and we are getting their really nice patio furniture on Monday. Can't wait!
I am having an essential oil make and take party tomorrow and I need to get the house cleaned and cookies baked but here I sit.
I'm knee deep in little kid time (7 month old + 3 yr old), which means little time or money for house stuff
We managed to plant some stuff outside, and the perennials I put in the last couple years are looking good. We're practically ignoring our garden. I'm trying to ignore all the house projects I want to tackle since there's no time or money (but yay for having a vision for our master bath one day).
If I could eek out the funds I'd love to replace our front door.
I never imagined how hard it would be to decide on exterior paint colors. Apparently, a blank canvas is too much freedom for me.
I can only imagine. I would have an awful time picking a color and then finding the shade would probably drive me over the edge. Best of luck! Post pics for help if you want it SaveSave

We went through 6 different shades of grey. It was intense.

Went to our local nursery and was thoroughly disappointed in their stock of a particular type of tree we wanted to get.
So I took some photos of another tree they had that wad much better, though admittedly a totally different type in terms of shape, style, etc., and asked my. H "What about this one?" And was shot down. "It feels like were settling." AYFKM?
It's like picking out wedding china all over again. It will take us months to agree, and by then it'll be August and no decent stock will be available, and yet another year with no tree.

I want to like this because it's so relatably funny. But I feel bad liking your pain.

Oh, go right ahead! This is what I get for marrying a man who has Opinions. I mean, that's why I love him and its what I wanted (vs. Some man who would just roll over and 'whatever you want dear' me for 50 years). But sometimes it's infuriating.
He's literally spent the last hour pouring over the nursery catalog and cross referencing Google for alternate photos.
I haven't been up to much house stuff recently, but am finally away on a much needed vacation. Am with a friend relaxing and recharging in Mexico. Have been enjoying the sand, sun, and tequila!
However, my list of house stuff to do keeps growing and I'm going to have to figure out what to tackle when I get home.

I feel you. 99% of the time I'm glad C has opinions about these things, but sometimes I just want to do what I want to do.
2curlydogs, DH has opinions as well and sometimes it's maddening. Then when I expect him to have an opinion he goes "whatever you want dear." IF I'M ASKING YOU I WANT YOUR OPINION!
We've done a lot of planting of shrubs and perennials around the house. I need to get some more perennials and some annuals.
I'm painting an accent wall in E's room tomorrow (finally!) and then hope to get some artwork up in her space. My mom is bringing her quilt down next week (finally!) so her room is finally coming together, only a year after moving in.
I'm hoping to finish up my table this weekend. DH sort of took over last weekend (on Mother's Day no less), so I'm trying to explain to him that I want to work on this myself so I can learn and I'm only asking questions for help, not for him to take over.
Life is still crazy. We picked out siding and roofing today for new house! We went with something a little different than what we originally decided on for the shake, but I think it will look nice. We hope to put our house on the market beginning of June, so we have to do some re-fresh painting. Carpet was installed in the bedrooms (over crappy looking wood floors) and it looks SO nice.....like why did we wait to do this? Oh well. I'm hoping my plants take off in the front yard so they can look stellar for listing photos. What else......oh yeah, since I'm working so much I still have to meet with cabinet and flooring people. I just don't have time! By the time I get out of work, it's 8:00pm. Sh*it needs to slow down at work so I can get some personal stuff done!

I have literally said this at least a hundred times. More often when we needed to move. Usually, it's in correlation with some stupid little thing that we just "never got around to" and then I feel dumb because it took 15 minutes and made a huge difference.

Moving is the worst.
Now that we're making our house super nice for sale, I say it all the time. The little things like a piece of trim, or de-cluttering. Makes such a difference, and I'm like, "Damn, we were lazy with this". I'm actually excited to move since it'll be a nicer house. If I was re-locating, I'm sure I would be singing a much different tune. I wish I wasn't so busy right now to enjoy the building/selling/packing/moving process. I've never bought/created my own house. I moved in with my H when we got married and he already owned the house. I'm excited to have something that's a little more of what we're creating together (really more of what I want.:-p )

@lauralynne, You are giving me flashbacks to when we reinsulated our attic. It was sooo gross.
Anyway, I know this is from last Wednesday, but I'm just logging in. Work is CRAZY busy. I have so many big projects including Founders new brewing in Detroit! My girls are as insane as ever and I'm struggling to be a good mom a bit. We got our yard all cleaned up and it looks AMAZING! Carriage house gone, pine tree gone, leveled, sod, new playset, new concrete patio, moved pool fence. Now if it would stop raining we could finish the shed and do some planting!
