Does anyone have a bug spray that is long-lasting, not toxic and safe for kids. My son has come home the past two days with multiple mosquito bites. His school won't apply anything so I have to do it in the am and hope that it is effective 4-5 hrs later when they go outside. TIA

We use Burt's Bees (Whole Foods, Target, and BBB all have it). I like the smell and it seems to work well. I am not sure how long lasting it is though.

I've had success with doing the home remedy of putting dryer sheets in my pants pockets and even rubbing them (lightly) on my arms and legs for an added effect.

We've tried several and nothing is as effective (for DS) as DEET. My kid still gets bites with it on. We had two pediatricians recommend to use DEET repellents with low concentrations. The APA has pretty specific recommendations about how it needs to be applied.

I use two things: (1) The off fan--I clip it onto dd's pants and it repels bugs for about a 3ft radius (2) when bugs are particularly bad, I double up with EcoSmart spray. All natural, etc. It seems to last decently long--a couple hours, but not all day by any means.
