I know. I keep trying to block that out and instead just imagine myself cruising down the highway with the rear window down with the music blasting.
Lol! We're planning on buying a new used car later this year and I've started researching online to set my budget and see what it could get us. That didn't stop me from browsing Dodge Challengers and dreaming about driving a bad ass mobile. It's not going to happen but maybe I could test drive one...
That's a hot car.
I should mention the music that is usually blasting these days is the Moana soundtrack with K constantly telling me to turn it up. Nothing says you've got game like driving a minivan with How Far I'll Go blasting. lol
Does the air conditioner shut off when you are stopped as well? We were looking into getting a Cherokee next year (though kind of rethinking it after this thread) but it would be a deal breaker if the a/c turned off at stop lights. I need my a/c
No. The a.c. still works and you can easily disable this feature if you want.
Is this a trick question? It's just...a thing. Why are there convertibles?
I'm genuinely curious.
But people don't disassemble convertibles. They're designed like that.
The wrangler is designed like that too. The window controls and locks are on the center panel on the dash rather than in the door because the doors are supposed to be able to come off.

I didn't know they were designed like that. Good to know!
My car was involved in a hit and run accident, so now I'm in the market :/ Originally, I was all for getting the Acura RDX, but I went to test drive the Grand Cherokee yesterday and absolutely loved it. Jeep's don't have the best reputation, so I'm looking for some personal stories on their reliability, etc.
Thanks!
We just bought a 2012 grand Cherokee overland for way under market value do to my job. We love it it's the best and way ahead of its time.
I had a 2012 model we bought new, until I sold it a year ago. It was my favourite car ever, it was a diesel Overland model. It had quite a few recalls in the time I had it but other than that we never had any issues with it. My XH had one too until it got written off after an accident and he got the SRT model as a replacement.
It's hard to know with the new models I think. I sold mine because it wasn't being paid for by someone else any more and it cost a lot to service and maintain and I was worried that I could issues since it wasn't under warranty anymore. But I'll never know, it could have gone on to run beautifully for 10 more years.. I miss my heated steering wheel though now that it's winter here.. lol
I have a 2014 grand cherokee and i like so many things about it. (never had all the trouble people are talking about on pg1). It fits 2 car seats and a booster in the backseat and the trunk is a good size. I also like the feel of it handling wise (we deive on the freeway a lot but live on a dirt road.)
What i dont like is that i feel like the blind spots are bigger than other comparible suvs. I had a ford explorer for a rental once and i felt like i could see around myself so much easier

At it's core a Wrangler is an off-road vehicle. That's what it is. A "stock" model (even a fancy one) is designed with the intention of allowing the owner to modify it, probably more than any other vehicle on the market.
The car literally shuts down when you are on the brake like at a light. It's supposed to be to for cleaner emmissions and they "claim" it helps on gas but I haven't noticed. I'm finding I don't get at good gas milage - else it just tacked onto the bill.

It doesn't shut off however the fan will go down slightly. If you have the a/c on max with the fan as high as it will go the car will not shut down either.
Jeep is officially off the list, I just can't do it with so many mixed reviews... I test drove the Highlander, 4Runner as well as the Mazda CX9 and CX5. Of those, only the Highlander made the cut.
Any reviews of that SUV? My husband told me that we're buying my new car on Saturday, so I need to decide between the Highlander and RDX.

We drove the Highlander last weekend as well. I'm a big fan. It hit all my check boxes and was a joy to drive. I've heard nothing but rave reviews from everyone that I've talked to about it. H and I had a list of other SUVs that we wanted to look at but both decided we were done after the Highlander.

We bought a new Grand Cherokee (basic Laredo model) in November 2016. Love it so far. Got the extended maintenance package. Has about 10,000 miles on it now, has had no issues and really, really nice to have the 4x4 in the winter. The auto shut off makes for better gas mileage than I was expecting. I'm happy with the purchase, particularly after a BMW with tons of very expensive mechanical issues.
