Found myself down this wormhole today. Apparently some ultra exclusive men's retreat with pseudo pagan rituals and Illuminati symbols. Every Republican 20th century president has been a member. Also some famous artists/authors etc. Except Trump. Cannot imagine him drinking beer and peeing in woods, lol, no matter how exclusive the invite.
It's popular around here with finance types. It isn't terribly secret.
The whole 'rites and rituals' thing is overplayed in that article. It's basically a bunch of rich white guys on a drunk glamping trip without their wives.

One of my DHs clients ( he is a fincaial advisor) just told Him he got Back from it..he is not a member but has been invited the last 5 years. He said Kevin spacey went and was unknowingly doing research for the house of cards episode... he apparently is no longer welcome . Lol
I'm surprised not everyone knows about this. It's the worst kept secret society ever. It's really fascinating to read about all this stuff, though.
If it wasn't local I don't know that have heard of it - not because it's super secret but because I don't follow this kind of thing. I don't know about whatever is the massachussetts or georgia equivalent.

back in 1989, my then-favorite magazine, Spy (the magazine that first called attention to the smallness of DJT's hands, calling him a "short-fingered vulgarian) did a cover story on Bohemian Grove:
for a wild and wooly walk down memory lane, you can see the whole issue, 80's ads and all, here:

My grandpa was in this. However, he was one of the ones who had to "work" his way in - he wasn't super rich. He sang in the choir. He enjoyed it, and we visited the San Francisco location a couple years ago for a Christmas party, which was openn to the families and us feeble women. Creepy as fuck. However, I believe it my grandpa was still alive, he would likely be a Trump supporter and it doesn't surprise me.

They're in Gilmore Girls?
The new episodes? I think original Gilmore Girls did an episode with a riff on Skull and Bones/Deer Island. I don't remember Bohemian Grove.

Old Gilmore Girls had the Life and Death Brigade which was based on skull and bones. I think there's some mention/implication in the new episodes but I just assumed it was L&DB continuing on, but I've never heard of this one before.
It sounds weird but my grandpa was a mason, so I am sadly a bit familiar with weird men-only groups. Dh actually started the process to join the Masons since my grandpa, his grandpa, and his dad were/are Masons (fil was one but isn't active anymore) and it was too weird and he dropped out.
I love that they won't let the twittering idiot in.

The way you described it sounded like the Life and Death brigade, but apparently my attempt at a joke was lame!
