I thought this was "fake news" - Canada housing US refugees.

but it's apparently not. So many refugees from the US are crossing into Canada they've started housing them in the Olympic Stadium. The majority are Haitians who are afraid Trump will send them back to Haiti. This is what our country has become.

Speaking as a Canadian, this story is true. It is in Montreal, which has been made a Sanctuary city and it was done because of the huge increase of people crossing over by foot at non-border crossings. It has been happening all over the country since the election, and it has been increasing very quickly.

This was the #1 story in my Facebook sidebar tonight.  CBC is saying close to 1200 people may have come to Canada in July.

I first read the link as abc dot com dot co rather than go dot com. Dotcomdotco is a fake news site that's been scrubbed but it's so ingrained in my brain from the election season (so many "that's a fake news site" comments during those months and beyond) that it was automatic.
This makes me so sad, that this is what our country has become. We're supposed to be the land of the free and home of the brave, not land of the fleeing and home of the afraid.
