throw blanket, slippers, Amazon gift card, coffee mug and packages of hot drinks and cookies/biscotti, chocolates, Kindle case/sleeve, headphones, car charging kit, book light, bookmarks, eyeglasses case, a year's subscription to a magazine
Thanks guys. I am getting an Amazon gift card. Great idea for a throw blankets and mugs. I looked for accessories but the case for the new Kindle is $40 and since we have only had 5 parents return money so far, I am trying to be frugal. I though about some books, too! Maybe some kid and adult books. And treats!

Is the kindle fire backlit like the original kindle or is it like the iPad? If it isn't back lit and it's like an iPad I would get a reading light to use with it.

I like the ideas posted about a throw blanket and a mug with tea / hot chocolate / coffee... It definitely ties into the theme of reading.
There is also a Kindle Fire for Dummies book which could be good since he Fire has a lot more options with it than a traditional kindle and some people may not know how to use the internet on it and all of the extras.
I don't know if there is one where you are, but Five Below has tons of accessories for kindles. I got a case and a stylus there, and they have chargers and headphones and stuff, too. For cheap!
