SBP I am reading it like you. The film was shown on Egypt TV which explains why it was sent to the Embassy in Cairo.
*not to add to the shit going on but a few Marines were killed during a sustained attack on U.S. Afghan Base (per CNN). They said that this is the base where Prince Harry is stationed (it is a joint base). Al Quaeda said they were going to get Prince Harry after it was made public that he was back in Afghanistan
Wait, why should a cable to Cairo have prevented something in Libya? I must be missing something?
It doesn't say the "government was warned." It says someone (probably diplomatic security or some other intelligence agency?) sent a cable to the Cairo embassy to inform them of possible unrest based on trending internet traffic on the video. I assume they sent it to Egypt because that's where a lot of people were watching the video. And given that there was very little property damage and no physical damage to American persons in Cairo it seems they took the necessary precautions.
I think Copz FB friend read this and interpreted it the way he/she wanted to, i.e. "the government knew this shit was going to go down!"

Sorry. I had to finish walking the dog. My wow was without reading anything. I assumed that when I said verify please that hawkeye was confirming my cousins post I quoted from facebook. She got her info from WLW which is FOX news on steroids.
I think you should tell your cousin that she is more than welcome to blame the federal law enforcement officers and Marines who play the security function at our embassies for not doing more with that information Because clearly she can do their job better
I wish it would help. We lost her to the dark side several years ago

The msm did report that one of the original targets was a safe house, and therefore none of the remaining safe houses are considered safe. That just stands to reason.
The Independent had a 'senior diplomatic source' that said documents containing names of Libyans cooperating with the US, or possibly info about oil contracts, are missing. Extremely vague and not well sourced, imo.
Oh, and please don't engage her. Despite our differences I love her dearly. She is an amazing woman.
Don't you hate that?
One of my favorite people from college, whose sense of humor is just beautiful rye and clever, sent me an email forward about how I should protest the USPS for their commemorative "Eid" holiday stamps.
She and her husband have three bio child and have adopted 6 special needs kids over the years. She scratch bakes everything, has all our family reunions and get togethers, cooks dinner once a month for our local veterans. I could go on and on. She is really that amazing.
It's just odd she and another cousin are the only hard core conservatives in our family. It is sometimes awkward to say the least.

I bought those stamps and put them on Christmas cards to my most conservative/religious family members.
I think it would've been more effective if they knew Eid was a holiday for the Islams.

Ooooh I want to do that this year! I hope the USPS still has them.
"According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted."\
Senior officials are increasingly convinced, however, that the ferocious nature of the Benghazi attack, in which rocket-propelled grenades were used, indicated it was not the result of spontaneous anger due to the video, called Innocence of Muslims. Patrick Kennedy, Under-Secretary at the State Department, said he was convinced the assault was planned due to its extensive nature and the proliferation of weapons."
"Egypt's General Intelligence Service warned that a jihadi group is planning to launch terrorist attacks against the US and Israeli embassies in Cairo, according to a report Tuesday by Egypt Independent, citing a secret letter obtained by Al-Masry Al-Youm."
This doesn't shock me whatsoever. There's ALWAYS shit going down in the ME. THey pretty much protest every Friday. The embassy probably wouldn't have thought anything unusual was going to happen - they protested the Terry Jones Quran burning, cartoons, the accidental Quran burning in Afghanistan... none of them got violent to the point where this one did. NOTHING I read there said they should bring in more Marines, just batten down the hatches and wait it out.
I don't understand how things would or could have been different at all. What, exactly, could Obama have done differently even if he had listened to every single second of every briefing?
I can't help wondering how whether things would have been different if Obama was more proactive listening to daily intel.
So, somehow reading the intel rather than listening to it caused the violent protests in the ME? Or are you arguing that if Obama somehow "paid more attention," American embassies would have responded differently? Or are you saying the response of American embassies, like the one in Egypt, attempting to contain the protests, was somehow wrong?
I'm just not sure why you're even bringing up the format Obama chooses to receive national security briefings, when that has absolutely nothing to do with what happened.
It is if they write them properly. GWB was the first president to insist on verbal briefs... because he didn't like reading all that info.
There is a reason you have security advisors and there is a reason you get briefed. Perhaps GWB was making the briefs a priority by making time to discuss them with advisors every day. I wouldn't criticize him a bit for having an active discussion as opposed to simply reading the report. There is active listening where you can get a sense of the urgency and what's going on. Plus you have the opportunity to ask questions. He had subject matter experts around him so that he could get the information that he needed.

It's something that interesting to think about. But we'll never really know will we? Instead we have dead citizens killed in violent acts of terrorism.
I have a president who's literate? That's awesome!
I'm glad the situation is funny. We are talking about violence and chaos erupting all over the world and we still want to poke fun at GWB by implying that he's not literate. <<sigh>>
One does not graduation Harvard being illiterate (as much as some people want to paint a picture of GWB being dumb).

Whereas this sentence is the picture of literacy.
(By the way, GWB went to Yale).
Right. When you cannot actually address the issue, let's just insult the poster! Good job. But yes, I should have said "graduate" instead of graduation. My husband is in Afghanistan and I am running our house and taking care of 3 kids on my own. Some days I am surprised I am even awake. So go ahead and make fun of my grammar and spelling errors all you want.
But, sadly, you (meaning the ones who responded to me) don't actually know all GWB's education history. Yes, he went to Yale (still an Ivy league school I might add).
He then went to Harvard Business School and earned an MBA. ;D

Someone takes herself rather seriously. My husband is, well, I'm not exactly sure where. So I use humor to make me feel less bad about that. Or, wait, no I use humor because I'm on a message board on the internet where levity is allowed.
But, fine, I don't think that the method Obama receives information indicates that he doesn't care or skips over it. If he needs clarification, I'm sure he can call and ask for it. I don't think that hearing something automatically makes one more engaged and active. I know I learn better from reading than listening. So I find the entire argument that Bush cared b/c he listened while Obama reads to be completely specious. Properly dealt with through humor.
Please don't use YH being in Afghanistan to try and make people feel guilty for pointing out a mistake. I worked/volunteered 70 hour weeks while MH was gone and managed not to use that to induce guilt in people who teased me or disagreed with me.
Sweetie, I'm not trying to. I made a mistake in my grammar. I was simply explaining why I type too fast sometimes. Maybe the real reason is that I type faster than I write.... unlike people who type without thinking. Good for you for volunteering 70 hours per week. You DEFINITELY deserve a medal for that!!!!! I really don't care if people point out my grammar mistakes. It just shows that they cannot argue the point. Instead they (and YOU) would rather try to look smart by pointing out the mistakes of others. Focus on the trivial and avoid the actual subject matter at hand.
