Let's see what today holds & if he can outdo himself from yesterday!
So yesterday, Trump going off the rails & really saying waht was on his mind, is pretty classic Bannon.... he probably encouraged Trump to go out there & tell the press all this bullshit. My $$ is on Bannon staying (at least for today)
I've yet to figure out if yesterday really matters...did it change anything? Are people really fed up? Are they going to quit? Is Trump going to be stuck defending this shit for the next few weeks? Does this situation continue to escalate?
AXIOS It was a tipping point for repulsed establishment Republicans, with Speaker Ryan, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and many others tweeting their dismay. GOP members and senators used Twitter last night to create real distance from the president.
It puts Trump's tortured staff in a bigger jam: How do they look their African American friends in the eye, and rationalize their support of Trump?
We're told close aides aren't shocked, but mainly dispirited.
Economic adviser Gary Cohn, the longtime #2 at Goldman Sachs, was standing next to Trump in anticipation of questions about infrastructure legislation. We're told Cohn was somewhere between appalled and furious.
A West Wing confidant tells us: "The danger for Trump now is that one senior resignation will start a run on the bank" — as soon as one top staffer quits, several others could follow.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, exhausted and dismayed, was shown in iconic TV shots with his head hanging during Trump's blast. He's building a more rigorous system for the staff, but it's not taking with the president.
Trump's legislative agenda will suffer: He doesn't have a single real friend in the Senate — 0 for 100. His lack of moral authority, and low approval ratings, will make everything harder.
I want them all to quit. I have a dream of seeing him all alone in the Oval Office when he realizes everyone hates him and thinks he's the worst of the worst, then he just sighs and picks up his sad little bag and walks out of the country.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

WanderingWinoZ , I think Bannon may take the fall for it. It struck me that he called him "Mr. Bannon" and emphasized that he joined the campaign late, which I feel like is laying the groundwork for a Manafort-style distancing. I have a really bad track record with predictions, though.

I don't get the amazon thing...doesn't almost everybody pay state sales tax on amazon now? I they have offices or physical businesses in most states now, no???

Definitely more than used to and in the states they had tax holidays or exemptions they have been expiring.
Regardless this is such a weird thing to harp on. I'm not quite sure who he expects this to resonate with. Besides tax doesn't deter amazon spending. People use it for the convenience factor.

I don't anticipate that any staffers at higher levels will resign. People like Bannon and Miller are true believers in what Trump is saying. People like Kellyanne are mercenaries - if she doesn't actually agree with him, it doesn't matter, because she has hitched her wagon and has demonstrated repeatedly there is nothing she won't defend for him. People like Hicks have a personal history with him. And then you have people like Cohn who are "upset" but are not leaving because of self-interest (they want the job/power).
I guess it is possible that some mid- or lower-level staffers would resign, but I assume that we wouldn't hear about them. But even them -- I think that they are largely staffed with people who are either believers, have told themselves it is better to stay ("well, *I* don't support any of this, so it is better for me to work here to try to have sane people here"), or are just not economically able to up and leave their job. The latter category might start job hunting in earnest so that they can leave soon, I guess.
I think there was a controversy about this in the past, some of it over the question of cross-state transactions, but its been resolved, AFAIK.
I think this is partly because of Bezos's ownership of The Washington Post, sand his usual nonsense.
When have facts ever stopped Trump from running his mouth??
As I said in the other thread, I think the other part is because he's jealous of Bezo's success - a real billionaire who has actually created lots of jobs must be so intimidating to his fragile ego.

I've about had it with the GOP's "dismay" and "disappointment" in 45. Get your fucking shit together and translate that discontent to your fucking voting.
Bannon will never leave. He could be fired today but he wouldn't really be gone. See Lewandowski as an example. Bannon is there as gateway to the base. He's there because he produces results but I don't think there's a personal level of care about him. Ultimately I think Bannon will recognize that his official presence is harming his objectives and will shift into an unofficial one.
Miller is a different kettle of fish. He's part of Trump's inner circle now and Trump leans on him heavily. He operates as a true senior advisor. Breaking that relationship will be much harder. He's not wealthy or independently powerful like Bannon so he can't just remove himself into the shadows either.
But while Profexer’s online persona vanished, a flesh-and-blood person has emerged: a fearful man who the Ukrainian police said turned himself in early this year, and has now become a witness for the F.B.I.
“I don’t know what will happen,” he wrote in one of his last messages posted on a restricted-access website before going to the police. “It won’t be pleasant. But I’m still alive.”
