Tuesday vent: Just talked to someone about my work trip. Her reaction to my resort choices was... not great. Very "Oh. ok. If that's what you think is best..." I give up. Where do they think I'm going to magically find another resort to meet our needs, given the very, very strict parameters they have?! I'm feeling at a total loss. I'm still going to visit the two resorts I found, we already booked a trip. But now I'm worried it won't be good enough. UGHGHGHGHG.
twinmomma - with enough alcohol even that chick will be happy! Don't let the negative people get you down. I am sure you will select a great place within their parameters and they will have a fantastic trip.

campermom, is it possible for your mom to come get your kids or one of them and take them to work with her? I know its not ideal but you need rest, lady!

I have a Tuesday vent too... I had a call this afternoon where I 1) told a manager and director (in my functional area) information they should already know as part of their job and 2) gave them suggestions that they should have been able to come up with on their own. That kind of stuff always makes me mad, especially given that they make a lot more than I do and are bonus eligible and I'm not.

She has taken off in the past, but they are really, really short at their business so basically no one can take off.
Plus my parents have gotten to the point where they can't keep up with my little one.
Id like to ask her to come tonight to help w dinner and evening but she is already changing her plans on Thursday so I can get my hair cut. I think that night is going to be hard on her. All my good babysitters are starting college or don't drive.
This sucks-I put him down for a nap late at like 2, thinking he would sleep till 5. Nope. He's up an hour and a half later. I let him play for while hoping he'd fall back asleep but nope. I never got a chance to sleep. 4 moreover hours till bedtime.
And - my vent - school info night is the same night as when DD finishes volleyball tryouts. Last year was a debacle in that DD didn't make it and her friends' parents blew up my phone telling me to contest that. I suspect but can't prove it's related to her medical diagnoses and possible absences. If she doesn't make it this year (after getting awards at camp with the other girls on the team who didn't get awards) I may decide to explore it more deeply. But on the immediate side - I need her to watch her siblings while I go to info night. It's soccer practice for all of DD's friends - but she's still injured. I am a basket case. I think tonight I will go to our neighbors with a bottle of wine and ask if they will be on the ready if they are needed, because if DD doesn't make the team she will be in her room crying.
On the upside the sitter is awesome with the kids. So my afternoons are now amazing.

Punta Cana is my dream! What a bunch of complainers.
I'm really trying hard to talk DH into Club Med Punta Cana so we can drop the kids off at camp and become trapeze artists. Among other exciting activities like going to the beach without kids. We have to go before baby turns 4 so he's free!
@leap - in 2024, totality will be less than an hour from us. In fact, that will apparently be the absolute best place to view it. I'm so excited! Plus my kids will be 10 and 12, so really a great age for it.
Can I crash on your lawn? I have a tent. 😉I will bring wine. My kids will be 12 and 9 and I've already decided we will be seeking out totality.
186momx - she goes straight to another job on Thursdays. I'm thinking I will have her drop DS at a friend's while I take DD to PT. He should only be there for 15 mins.
Then great news! The pushed the announcement to Friday!

Are we venting yet? I have spent the last 12 hours on extremely detailed work and my brain hurts. I've missed bedtime (frankly I don't mind as I do bedtime almost every night) but I expect that my planned post-bed target trip is off. H expects me to show up at some point.
Omgosh I still have a 100 temp. I took NyQuil last night and did sleep a lot though. The rattling and crackling made its way into my dreams-i was talking to my friend/coworker and she was like "Do you hear that? Listen. Is that your lungs?"!
So I guess I wait till tomorrow and if I have a fever go to the Dr again. With the kids. Of course.
Oh I didn't mention the latest. My toddler has explosive diarrhea. And now I can hear him coughing from his crib.

campermom, I'm sorry you're still feeling bad. Are you drinking lots of fluids? Treat this shit like a man-cold and just park yourself on the couch or in bed when possible. I'm telling you, it might extremely inconvenient to us when our husbands do this, but they might be on to something.

I work for the government. If we ever got anything above a potluck on our lunch hour, or a training in some almost off the grid Holiday Inn in the backwoods somewhere, I'd fall over. No compute any criticism of a tropical work trip.

What she said. What do employees do on these trips? Are there any seminars or meetings of any kind or do they just get to go and have fun?

Total fun. It's an incentive trip for contractors and sales people.
