I'm seeing a lot of controversy about this on Twitter, mostly through the D.C. BLM, about how they didn't coordinate with local D.C. organizers and used a photo of someone not associated with their event to promote it.
I thought this sounded like a good idea until I read the dates. That's an awfully long march to put together so quickly. And if they left our local coordinators, I doubt it'll be successful.
At the same time I also thought - glad I don't have any plans for next Sunday/Monday. Let me call the BFF and we can go march those two days. So...IDK. I want it to be successful but I'm skeptical.
It's been pretty heavily promoted, but there will be no police presence for any portion of the march, as far as I know. Just north of Cville is bright red, and remains so for quite awhile. We have a considerable aftermath here right now and tensions remain high. People are still physically fighting over the fucking statue, which had the tarp that was placed over it removed and completely taken from the park Saturday night. I have safety concerns about this. I have been vocal about this on social media.
