We will be out of town for 10 days. A friend of Cs (she's 13) will be coming by every day or two to feed and water cats and rabbit, scoop the boxes, and water plants. What would be a reasonable amount to pay her?
$100 - I'm thinking 5/6 visits. My DDs who are almost 13 yr old would be over the moon. I pay my 16 yr old neighbor $15 a day when we are away to let my dogs out 2x a day with feeding. He leaves the back door open so they can go in/out so no playing/walking is necessary.
Eh, our 13 year-old neighbor comes by twice a day for one cat, and we pay her about $5/day. For a 10-day trip we would increase it to probably $7-8. She is ecstatic for that kind of money.

We give my BIL $100, however that's usually over a full week and he drives to our house. If there's no driving, and they're only 13 I say $5 to $10 a day is more than fair.
If she's coming over once a day, I'd probably give $50. If twice a day, I'd do $100. I think I got paid $20 to feed my neighbors cat twice a day for a week and I thought that was nuts! I would have done it for free.

Phew thanks! I was thinking $50 too but didn't want to feel like I wasn't paying enough. She lives a few blocks away and will literally be here for maybe 5-10 mins at a time. I know C would be stoked for $50. Thanks!

When I used to do this for our neighbors (rural setting, so a little ways down the road), I expected nothing but they usually left like $20 and always brought me back a souvenir. I would water their plants, feed their cats, and feed their chickens. They let me keep the eggs the chicks laid too.
Starting when DS was in high school, he had 2 cat sitting clients.
Client one has 3 kitties with 2x daily visits. He'd scoop/change litter (they used clay because one cat didn't like the other kind), feed and play with them.
Client two had 2 cats one a once daily schedule. He'd feed dry kibble and treats, maintain their water fountain and brush and play with the friendlier of the two. Sometimes, client two's elderly mother needed a ride between her home and her daughter's to tend her vegetable garden- he'd help her water, too.
He always got about $10/day. Client two sometimes added a little extra or a gift if she saw a tee she knew he'd like especially if he'd been helping her mom.
no more than $50. I mean, what is it like 30 minutes of work each time?
$50 is big money for a 13 year old, at least when I was 13 I would have been ecstatic to get that kind of money lol. Even $20 would have seemed great but now that I have a cat and hate litter box scooping I suppose I'd give her $50
I wish real life was like gbcn. I watch animals for friends and neighbors and don't get paid a cent. Lol.
We usually pay in booze, would that count?
Yep! My neighbors (both teachers) frequently take 2-3 week vacations a few times during the summer. I come over and take care of their cats while they're gone, and they typically bring me a couple bottles of wine when they get back.
