I just became the Regional manager at my office and would like to do someone nice for my new staff. It consists of about 12 people. Any ideas? Since I am just starting I haven't received my first check yet but am hoping to do something in the next two weeks.
My staff actually liked in when I brought in whole fruit better than anything else I've done. It's nice too because it doesn't have to be eaten in one day.

Bagels are good. Just make sure to tell people the day ahead of time so you don't run into the problem that we always have - people eat breakfast not knowing that there will be food, and then no one eats the bagels.
Alternatively, I like our department lunches. We order in pizza & then sit around & play games to get to know each other better. Sounds cheesy & everyone protests at first, but it always ends up being fun.

My people like bagels. And coffee. We didn't have coffee at the Back to School breakfast (provided by the administration) and people are STILL complaining almost a month later. I made sure to have coffee at my meeting three days later.

Just make sure the bagels aren't of the frozen variety from the grocery store. Like Thomas's bagels. I know, you're thinking "Duh," but really, it's not as common-knowledge as you'd think. My supervisor, who shouldn't be allowed near people ever, has bought bagels and a tub of margarine for our department once in two years, they were Thomas's frozen bagels, and she couldn't understand why they sat out, untouched, for like three days.
It's an office where each member comes in gets there supplies for them day, then is mobile for the rest of the day. I never thought of bagels being a good gift. Thank you!

Oh - that's different then. In that case, you might want to go with something they can more easily take with them, like doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, danish, etc. They might not have time to stop and eat, and it's kind of hard to spread cream cheese on a bagel in the car.
That is my time. I don't want to spend it with people I don't necessarily like.
Breakfast is a better idea.
:Y:
We had the most awkward lunch the other day. A coworker brought in Szechuan food... we all sat around eating Mapo tofu, and a few other very spicy dishes. My boss was actually sweating, and everyone else sat around talking about how hot it was.
I don't think that's what all the white people were expecting when she said "Chinese food."
I made cupcakes once, didn't go over too well. Not many people wanted them. I think I'll try donuts or maybe even bagels still, they can make them before they go

No offense, but homemade is not the way to go in a case like this unless you have the reputation of being a fantastic baker / cake decorator. Work treats are best purchased from a known, reputable establishment.
Now imagine having to play "get to know you" games at that time.
Gross. But Balki thinks that means we aren't fun. lol.
Lol. No, that means my CWs are just funner, relatively speaking. I seriously laugh so hard at work & I forget that this is the first job that I've been able to do that.
We have an amazing donut place near here, like A-mazing! Maybe I'll hit them up before work. Luckily I know everyone and everyone knows me, I always hated get to know you games. I'm having a meeting in a couple weeks, going to get a few pizzas and pop.
