Glenn Thrush blocked me in Twitter, because I said he embarrassed himself by going on a Twitter rant against a reader. I can't stop laughing. What a man-baby! 😂
For context, it was when the story about Secret Service funding broke. Someone responded to him "But her emails ..." and Glenn responded with 4 tweets worth of HRC criticisms in a snotty tone.
I did unfollow him, but tried to view a RT this am and found out he hates me. 😂

In case y'all don't go over to H&G, I'll mention it here - someone CUT DOWN one of our specimen trees Sunday night. W..T..F??
It was a 40+ year old weeping blue atlas cedar. Gorgeous tree. The cut was like 6+ feet above the ground, they cut 80% through and left the tree hanging, sprawled over the street. We're filing a police report, discovering my homeowners insurance sucks, consulting an arborist and getting an estimate on removal & replacement. Fun times.

Back at work, and I'm not happy about it. More call-outs today, but we have enough coverage, thankfully. And I'm not running around like a chicken with my head cut off (yet).

sparrowsong, isabel, I truly don't think it was a neighbor. We know most of our neighbors very well and they're all outraged. The tree was there almost since the house was built in '71, it didn't obstruct views or get in the way. It's so weird.
We have a park behind our house where teens sometimes drink. But there's never been property damage, and the premeditation of it....I mean, not sure if they had a ladder but definitely a decent saw.
United Healthcare can suck my left tit. The closest rehab facility that they will cover as in-network for my OSS is almost 60 miles away and isn't even appropriate for him based on their program. Next closest is almost 100 miles and has shitty reviews.
I'm so glad I've started padding an extra day to the end of my vacation when I get home. I don't feel so cramped to do vacation laundry and crap while trying to get back into the work swing.

we traded in our gas car for another electric, the Chevy Bolt EV.
We're now the proud owners of exactly ZERO gas cars!
...the Bolt is pretty great. The range is 230ish miles per charge, which definitely puts it in reach for the VASTVASTVASTVAST majority of commuters, and will even work for huge road trips. We're already starting to plan a grand tour of western National Parks for next summer!

A bottle of wine broke in my car yesterday on my way home from grocery shopping. It seems the upholstery in my trunk is beyond ultra absorbent, so my car stinks of wine. I have it out in the sun with the windows and trunk open now, hope it dissipates quickly and I don't get pulled over!

ALSO, my IRL friend who's a published author of historical romances has a new book coming out today, and was interviewed by USA Today about the relationship between sisters.
If you like that sort of thing, check out her and her books. I think she's pretty great.
We had a FANTASTIC weekend- National Book Festival (saw Cokie Roberts speak, and then we went to her book signing and chatted!), got a good hike in on Sunday morning, went out on my parents' boat yesterday, and all the time in between was pretty productive or relaxing. Felt pretty good last night.
Look at my email this morning, and the shit hit the fan and I've spent all morning scrambling. One person has the ability to end this, and he's officially out as of Friday, so we're supposed to make a complete left turn and push this through the fucking Pentagon in two days. WTF. It's just not possible, which is I think the point- he doesn't want to be the one to say no, so he's stalling until it's a moot point. But we still have to act like this is real life.
Oh, and DH is likely heading out W or Th for USS McCain response, and will basically be gone indefinitely. At this point, he may end up just staying out there into October for the USS Fitzgerald heavy lift.

Sorry. That sucks - picking rehab is hard enough without insurance crap. It seems like insurance can skimp on all rehab facility coverages. Do you have insurance through your work? My coworker was able to get our benefits department head to talk with our insurance about rehab coverage and they made an exception to the rules.

Like for the weekend, but not the work stress or DH heading out.
downtoearth, the insurance is thorough DH's employer. So he is checking to see what can be done. We are hoping that there may be an exception based on the distance. We found a place in our city (which is the second largest city in the state - which is why I can't believe that there isn't a single approved in-network facility) that can accept him. So now we are waiting on a reply from DH's HR department.

My DH is still on my nerves. We have an appointment with a counselor in about 12 days (earliest we could get in) and he has talked a lot about his asshole comments and apologized, but I might now understand why people have grudges. Up until now, it has been easy to discuss, find resolution, and move on.
Funny random - my friends staying with us from Spain really wanted to meet the governor of our state and haven't gotten around to scheduling a meeting. Last night, I went to the grocery store with their kids and ran into the gov and his kids - I introduced them and he asked them about their visit and was very warm and chatty. The kids were amazed and ecstatic to meet the "state leader." My state and town are too tiny sometimes.

That happened to me a few weeks ago but it was in the front seat. I drove home very, very carefully.

At least it was white wine and not red!Â
Mine is red! No visible staining, but oh my the smell!
