I'm watching an email fight re: supervisors who do not want to fill out the paperwork that IT requires to set up computer accounts for new hires. Traditionally admins have done it, but IT is forcing supervisors to do it for security reasons. You'd think IT asking people to fill out a form in triplicate and sign in blood the way these people are going on and on. In reality, it's a 5 min form to fill out, if that.
Do y'all supervisors lose the ability to perform simple tasks when you move up the chain?

LOL. Changing a process and getting adoption is a huge struggle.
We require this sort of thing to come from HR. So if a supervisor emails me going "I have a new hire who needs access to X, Y and Z." I'm like "That's nice. I'll wait until I get a ticket from HR Director."
Update from my late random yesterday: My aunt is in neuro ICU. She can't speak, has no motor control. She can make noises and that's about it. Everyone is feeling pretty grim about her chances of survival. I don't know what to do.
And ditto any process change is a nightmare. I feel like our problem is we are constantly changing how things are done between supervisors/IT/HR/leadership so no one knows what they are supposed to do.
I'm sorry 2curlydogs. Family getting older sucks. I do know that when my gpa finally moved from this world it was a blessing. He was suffering with his dementia.

Yes. Lol
I'm not even an admin, but I do all kinds of asinine shit for my boss. I like the guy a lot, but man.
He'll call me to put his digital signature on a file.
I mean, I just had to tell one of the supervisors to NOT send me his login information so I could send the request in for him (we have a new hire starting soon). I offered to walk him through the process, and he asked if I could show one of his guys how to do it instead. This is not how this works!
I'm going for another interview today. Still dental. I really wanted to get out, and I'm still waiting on the job I heard from last Friday. While I'm grateful to have interest in me for a job, I hate feeling stuck. :\ there's really no significant up from where I am, and stagnation sucks.
Pixy - all.the.time. And yes the higher up they go, the less capable they are to handle simply tasks. Except my CIO - but he's fairly young and his Admin is awful so he'd be screwed if he relied on her for anything. One of my managers called someone in from WFH to collect a badge and set of keys from someone he RIFd. She's not even his anything - she's a COS for one of his peers. I was aghast.
The kicker - we're in HR Technology so many of these simple tasks run on our systems.
My random: I bought a splitter so I can charge my phone and use my headphones at the same time. Loving that I'm not at zero battery by the end of the day.

Ha! Me too. I've been called into his office to insert page breaks, fix margins, convert to PDF....sometimes I'm annoyed but mostly I'm like "that's why you pay me the big bucks!"
Doing online training for internal certification, and the module I'm working on today is Congressional Enactment of the federal budget. The training makes it all sound so clear cut and straightforward- there should be some sort of disclaimer on this crap.

My old supervisor is the king of this kind of question... my desk is near his office and he still asks me for help with this stuff, but he at least always caveats it by asking if I have time and isn't offended if I don't.

Apparently the Rev. Jesse Jackson is coming to my neighborhood today, he is going to be at the church a few houses down from mine. I kind of want to go.

I really want to decorate for fall. Maybe we will start that tonight. It's cold as fall here already, and it's snowing in the mountains. May as well just give in!
Speaking of fall, I need to get new tires on my car before it snows.
YES YOU DO!
I am evangelical about three things - mattresses, shoes, and tires. If your back or your feet aren't well cared for, your body is fucked. If your tires are unsafe, your car is fucked.
Don't put this off too long. I can harass you about it if you want.
I had to do training on preventing radicalisation today in anticipation of further training at our staff meeting on Tuesday (I work Mon- Wed so needed to do it today for access purposes). It was actually quite interesting and well done.
