Been driving for 16 years, I guess it was bound to happen. Rear-ended at a stoplight. MFer. They may very well total out my car even though the damage is relatively minor to the eye.
Other driver is insured through USAA and I am less than impressed with my experience with them so far.

Just DS1 was with me and he was fine (other than loudly asking in front of the other driver, "MOMMY WHY DID THAT BAD MAN HIT OUR CAR?!?!!!!")
AAM2012 - My car is not safe to drive. I called USAA and though they would take the claim and assign an adjuster today, they won't start the inquiry until Monday.
I was hit by someone with USAA before. It was relatively pain-free, considering their insured would not reply at all to them (she got a ticket for being at-fault). They seemed annoyed by her and helped me out.

The airbags did not deploy and we were hit at 5 mph max. I was at the head of the line turning right and the guy behind me thought I was advancing when I wasn't.
The reason they may total out my car is that the rear bumper is hanging off my an inch or two, and it damaged the hatchback door and frame and now the back won't shut and thus the car won't lock. Looks minor, but whole thing probably has to be replaced which is $$$, and my car is an 05 with 100k miles.
If you truly feel unsafe in your car and don't have another car to use you can get into a rental (I would use enterprise) and is there is no coverage or liability issues they can take over the rental and have it billed directly.

USAA will only pay for a rental after they have accepted liability - which I understand, but it's crappy that they basically don't work on the weekends when obviously their insureds can plow into other people every day of the week.
Anyway, we have a semi-extra car I can use for a few days and will get a rental after the claim is processed and they have my car in the shop.
