Welcome to the club! I am also a 34F. I (very unsuccessfully) wore a 36D until I was fitted at a lingerie specialty store before my wedding. I just spent $140 on two new Chantelle bras after a MMer commented that I needed a more supportive bra.
Cole Haan pumps are my favorite! Which ones did you get?

Be careful with the bra size. It's quite possible you are a 34F but I've found that lots of fitters will try to put you into a larger cup size with a smaller band size, I think it might be a vanity thing. It happened to me. I was wearing 36DD and they put me into 34F. I bought some really expensive bras and they did not fit. The band dug into me like nobody's business and they were way too uncomfortable to wear. I really am a 36DD.

The bra band should be tight (like borderline uncomfortable) on the loosest set of hooks. The band, not the straps, should be what holds you up. If you are a 10/12, a 34 sounds right. I am a 14 or 16 and a 36.
ETA: when I was a solid 18, I thought I was a 40 or 42 and I was wayyyy off. When I went to a 38, the first few times I wore the correct size, I thought I was going to die bc of how tight the band was, but a) I looked better/thinner and b) everything had way better support.
How are you supposed to put it on? Am I not supposed to hook in front & twist?
I think we had this discussion on here recently. The short answer, is no, you're not.
However, with how a bra is supposed to fit in the band (very tight to the point you can only fit 2 fingers under it), I do the front hook and twist or else I can't get the pieces together.
My Nordstrom fitting I went from a 46C (per LB a year earlier no weight loss-gain) to a 44FF. The bra changed my life...
They only make my size in 1 brand...Elomi, I can sometimes find my size at Nordstrom Rack. You might want to check there to increase your stash.
After my first fitting I did have to go back and get the next band size up. After wearing 1 the whole day and it cutting into me I couldn't stand it. They re-fit me and exchanged all my bras without a problem.
I've read somewhere that the most common bra sizing error is too large band, too small cup. Because so many stores only seem to carry cup sizes up to D or DD, women end up buying a larger band size to accommodate, even though it's the wrong size.
I still have no idea how "hook in front and twist" works. LOL.
Congratulations on your purchases, carrots.
Basically you take the bra, straps up, right side facing out, and have it so the cups are between the middle of your back and the small of your back and the hooks are near your midsection. You hook the hooks, and twist it around (clock/counterclockwise) so the cups are then in front. Then you hoist it up and put your arms through the straps.

This is my understanding as well. I now giggle when people talk about how huge their boobs are and mention that they're a D cup. I'm an F cup and while they're big, they're not porn star big or anything.

I'm just going to say, fuck that shit, to both of these items.
1) I'm so uncoordinated and inflexible that there is no way I could successfully hook a bra blindly from behind. #hookAndTwist4Life
2) If the band was any tighter than it already is I would die from it cutting into me.
But I will say that all of these discussions have made me appreciate my small boobs. I hated them when I was younger, but now I realize that us smaller boobed girls have it much easier.
At Intimacy, the fitters have you lean over, and they put the cups over your boobs, then you stand up and they hook it in the back. I don't know how you could do this yourself, though.

I kind of "fix" my boobs my leaning over after I've got my bra on fully, and then I sort of scoop/cup a boob to lift it up and place it in my cup better. I think I saw that on Oprah.

I hate to be a total AW, but is it normal for it to be that uncomfortable? We went to dinner and I feel nauseous BC of how tight the bra is
No! That's what I was trying to say earlier. Bra fitters want to get you into a smaller band size for some reason. This is exactly what happened to me, bras should not be too painful to wear. They should fit snugly but should not be so tight that you get nauseous!
I only wish my boobs were big enough to fall in the cups when I leaned over. Seriously, theyre invisible.
Saddest confession ever - h went to grope me while I was Laying down and braless the other day and he totally grabbed the bottom of my rib cage thinking it was my boob. I wanted to die.
Don't let anyone ever tell you that bfing doesn't destroy your boobs.
I was wearing a 36G until about a month ago. I knew it was way off since the bands were too loose and didn't offer any support at all. I went in and am a 34G. When I bought the first bra I felt a million times better and was so much more comfortable. I was kinda scared since I have never worn smaller than a 36. I've been working on losing weight and it's working.

It could be her real band size but the bra is not sized right. I find different bra brands fit me tighter and looser.
Really, just measure yourself and google how to do it. You will be able to see how it's done and find out if you are on the edge or not. It's not hard and I do it every year to make sure I haven't changed.
RBP, the Chantelle bra is my most recent purchase and I love it!
sigh I need to go get fitted. I am going bra-less most days now since I'm in nursing tanks 24/7 but when I go back to work that won't fly!
I know my bras don't fit right, it's a 38 DD but I have to put a band extender on it to be able to fit it around me. I hook in the back, not front and twist.
but 40-42 size bands are not standard in most stores so I just keep using the extenders....
