I moved since last year's NaNo, which is a bummer because I was getting to know some of the people at write-ins. However there does seem to be an active group where I live now, so that's exciting!
I'm currently in brainstorming mode for the overall concept. It's fun to intentionally let my mind wander!
I am! I'm currently finishing up revisions on last year's Camp NaNo book with my mentor (I got into a big contest and it ends with an agent round where literary agents will get to see my pitch and first page of that book at the beginning of November-- yay! but scary! but yay!) so I feel like doing NaNo would be a great distraction from checking my email inbox every five minutes in hopes of hearing from agents.
My NaNo name is Speedreader if anyone wants to link up!
My plan is to try and finish this year's Camp Nano fail. I'm at 25k words now so if I can hammer out 60k I'll have a nice, sloppy first draft to work with by December.
I'm writing this year. And for the first time in a long time, I have some semblance of an idea earlier than three days before November 1. I don't have a plot yet, really, but there's been this dystopian-esque world living in my head for a few months. To the point that I drew a map for it (if you can count four squares and a circle as a map) and wrote down all the society's rules and such a couple months ago. So hopefully more of a plot will come to me as I plan and write.

incogneato I saw that on your blog! I've been doing this way longer than you with way less progress. I'm on my second draft of the book I want to publish though, so maybe by next year I'll be where you are now.

I'm glad to see some familiar faces here.
Everyone's path is different! Keep up the hard work and you'll reach your goals, I know it. :-)
I'm planning to attempt NaNo! I'm in the middle of writing a trilogy that's stalled as my life has gotten very busy, and I'm hoping NaNo gives me the push to finish book two and start book three!
My laptop has been dying a sad death for a few months, and finally kicked it over the weekend. I got myself a new one (it's purple!) so it's extra motivation to do NaNo and spend so much time with it <3
It seems like the Boise group is pretty active year round, so hopefully I'll get settled in nicely and be able to continue to edit/write more than just November.
Great to see everyone! I've been noodling around an idea all summer and I'm finally roughing out a plot and outline. Ugh. I need to focus more on this and less on everything else. Writing like a madwoman for a month sounds more productive than I have been able to muster lately.

I'm doing it this year! The past few years I've been in grad school, so I haven't had the time, but this is the year I finish! I have a decent idea, and have started outlining.

You know that feeling when you've spent seven years working on preparing and starting to write your fantasy series and realize you may have planned on killing the wrong character all along? Yeah, that was me last night. Turns out killing character A instead of B near the climax of book 1 may solve some problematic tropes. But my God this throws so much planning and mental stuff off.
Not like I plan on doing book 2 this year for NaNo or anything. I have a feeling I'll be distracted by book thoughts all day.

Oh no!! Can you have them come back somehow? It is a fantasy series...
Book thoughts all day, I'm jealous. I need to stop TRYING to make it happen... but geez, less than 3 weeks and I've got nothing.
I have a plot! And My 2 main characters! Now I have to do some research so I can just write when the time comes. And do a few more sub plots and outlining. And also, character bios for a few people besides the 2 main characters.
