I don't get the outrage over his comments. Definitely not PC but not loss of endorsement worthy. I give the side-eye because the reputation of athletes and respect for women is abysmal and it goes wayyyyy beyond the immature giggling of one hearing a female say routes.
And she has some nerve being sensitive after her own comments.
He's being dropped because he's a black athlete who said something sexist. Not because he said something sexist.
Let's consider the double standard here. Newton's sexist comment = loss of endorsement and excessive criticism Trump's "locker room talk" = election win for presidency and excessive excuses and defense
I'm willing to bet there's a very high percentage of Newton critics who were Trump voters and still remain his supporters.
He's being dropped because he's a black athlete who said something sexist. Not because he said something sexist.
Plus also, because he's Cam Newton. If any other white football player would have said this, no sponsorships would have been dropped. The media has always been extra hard on Cam Newton and his "behavior". Remember the coverage of him after the Super Bowl?
SO my husband just presented the following theory: that it’s similar to a man asking a question about the specifics of delivering a child. Guy says, “Was that afterbirth execution really difficult, though, since you’d had that extra-long episiotomy*?” *miniroller translation
As women- would we have a similar “Psh (giggle)...” reaction?
We understand women aren’t paid for childbirth, nor are they interviewed by professionals who have interviewed mom’s directly after aforementioned process. Nonetheless, it’s a semi-similar stance in that a woman reporter has never “run a route” in professional FB... (according to my H)
I don't think it's the same at all. How about this analogy: in a convo with a male obgyn the other party scoffs at the notion that, despite having gone through med school and been in practice for some years, it's funny to hear a man talk about afterbirths and hookahs, because, well, you just don't expect it. And then you poo-poo the entire premise that the man might know what he's talking about.
Oh jeebus. Is this thread going to be a repeat of "who can outdo the other in bad analogies?" Because, people... just drop it. It was bad. It doesn't need corrected. For the love of GAWD let it drop.

AGREED! Sorry, he prodded me to post after our discussion because he was so positive he was right that it was a credible analogy, with which he was positive you all would heartily take his side 🙄
He’s obviously not well-CEP-informed, (which is just fine by me). Sorry guys! (But I win, just for the record.)
