I am glad he was fired and the other demoted, it was completely appropriate. I wish corrective action like that happened for other aggressions caught on camera where the victim is something other than a blond woman.
I'm not sure but I would assume there is more to it than saying "you're fired" consulting with a legal department and stuff so the cop can't back and try to fight for his job back. I'm glad they took their time and made sure it was done correctly.
I'm sure there was union stuff involved as well-I think they need to go through hoops with them. (I'm not an expert though).

Not going to lie, my first thought, after "good," was "I wonder if he would have gotten fired if the nurse had happened to be a POC." Because unfortunately I don't think that's a given at all.

Obviously, this is a good thing.
But I am feeling some kind of way about it happening over the roughening up of a blond, white women who was released without charges filed. There is privilege in her being able to do the right thing.

I mean, yes, good.
But the SLPD is currently trying to avoid having to answer for the killing of a black man back in August. No charges. So maybe this guy took the fall so that they could show how seriously they are taking claims of brutality.

Yup. I'm glad and all, but my first thought after "good" was "If only we could get cops who actually KILL people unjustly fired."
I will say that I'm glad they also demoted the supervisor who was driving the insistence on getting a blood sample.
I just googled the actual victim/patient that she was protecting and saw that he died I hadn't heard about that but I probably missed it in the crazy that is our news cycle lately.
