I think it's normal for most retail stores to open at 10, but the Walgreens by my house doesn't open until 8am which I find weird. I thought most were 24 hours. I always forget and pull into the parking lot to grab something on my way to work, and then realize they're still closed.
The Sonic near me now opens at 9am. 9AM! How am I supposed to get tater tots and limeade for "breakfast" at 9am? How does breakfast happy hour go 7-10am, when you open at 9?
I got breakfast there almost every day during my first pregnancy. I had to be at work at 7:30 then, so I have no idea how much earlier they used to open, but opening at 9am for breakfast is unacceptable.
The mall was always 10 here. Small privately owned stores as well. Restaurants that don't serve breakfast have been 11 as long as I have been eating out.
My Target and Aldi opens at 9. The hardware stores open at 6 except Sunday at 8. The other grocery stores are open 6 am to midnight. The library never opens earlier than 10.
I've worked retail and it's rare to be busy before 10, so it does not surprise me that there are fewer that pay for the staffing of an early opening.
