I think we've decided for ease we're going to go with Ikea cabinets for our laundry room. Our kitchen cabinet company was too pricey and online companies seem cheap until you get to shipping. Plus figuring out all of the little pieces (we have 2 open ends) was too much for me online.
I know we should go when it's not crowded and we've got a basic plan in their online planner. Any other tips? I think we're going to go with a sink from there and maybe countertop too.
This is what I'm thinking design wise:
Ours would be like this, but flipped and no cabinet above the sink, just the bar
We used their cabinets to build office desks in a previous house. We LOVED the results, but they didn't move with us.
Two big lessons we learned: All of the extras add up really, really quickly...and EVERYTHING (including hinges!) is extra! Be prepared to make multiple trips back to the store for damaged, missing, or forgotten parts/pieces,

Well we're not close to one yet (2019 they're saying), but my parents are and mom is retired...... maybe I can bribe her with a spa day.

We have them in our laundry room and pantry! Love them and H didn’t even get that frustrated building them 😂 we are 45ish min from the college park one, so it wasn’t a bad trip. Also all of our kitchen counters (quartz) are “from” ikea. They are actually caesarstone and a local fabricator comes out to measure and install. That was also fabulous for us!
I have two friends with Ikea kitchens. One friend has a light maple look cabinetry, and it has held up well for 10 plus years. The hardware was also from Ikea in a brushed sating finish and it has almost completely worn off to reveal a gold underlayer.
The other friends just installed their kitchen last year, in a white shaker style. It looks very pretty and they said they are happy with it.
We installed IKEA cabinets, counters and sink in our laundry room earlier this year and I’ve been very happy. They were easy to install, cheap and seem to be holding up well so far. We went with the cheapo prefabricated counters, because we didn’t want to spend much on a laundry room, and actually really like them.

Yeah I think we’ll go low budget on counters especially since laminate has come so far.

Definitely get delivery. I agree with having to go back to the store a lot ... my son was 3 and 6 years later he still asks to go eat at IKEA because we had to take so many after-work trips together. That said, my cabinets are great and look brand-new 6 years later.

My only advice is if you are going to do the cabs around your w/d then to look at the manuals for clearance requirements before heading to ikea. Looking at that photo, that would not have worked with our whirlpool units. When we renovated we had a weird closet like space that we wanted to use to put stacked units so I specifically looked for units to fit and not all would.

We're doing top loading washer this time. I was just using the pic for cabinet inspiration. I'm giving up on front loaders. Ours stink all the time now and we've never closed the door. I've bleached, scrubbed, etc and they just never seem clean anymore.
Plus we've already ordered the new w/d just waiting for costco to setup delivery and install. Then we'll do the cabinets. Not exactly the best order of things, but we're not near an Ikea, so even if we use them that requires a trip to the parents and then getting everything into our truck.
Our kitchen that came with the house is Ikea. I think it was essentially new to us and it still looks new 4 years later. I do not like the Ikea faucet that we have, but I don't dislike it enough to change it out.
We redid our laundry room ourself using Ikea kitchen pieces, and it's been great. We used their kitchen design tool and went in on a weeknight to discuss everything with them. Their planner made sure we didn't forget anything and recommended a couple of tweaks we didn't think about, placed the order and we drove down the street to pick it up. After hearing horror stories about missed pieces, we double checked everything before we left and didn't end up with any missing pieces. Assembly was less annoying than other Ikea products we've experienced. Hanging the cabinets was a huuuuge PITA because our laundry room has super tall ceilings and we opted to put the upper cabinets on top one of the tall kitchen cabinets that they have. We also chose to use the deep above-fridge cabinets rather than the regular shallower depth ones so they were heavy when husband and I were wrestling them up a ladder and trying to get them hung on the bar/rack thing. I'd redo the laundry room again on our own, but it's pretty small. We used their butcher block countertop and Waterlox'ed the heck out of it for added protection. We use the space under the sink for a litterbox, so we bought an extra door for any future homeowners who don't want a pet door in their cabinet, and it was nice to have that option available.
I think my biggest peeve is that they don't have trim pieces that match all of their finishes. So we have glossy light cream/white cabinets, and the trim pieces are white/white. Also, in our kitchen the inside of the cabinets are a light birch color with black doors and drawers; you can see the birch finish slightly when you look straight on at the cabinets. It's not noticeable with the laundry room since we chose white interior but might be worth considering.
