Per NPR this morning: Thousands of voters have been sent a letter saying the state thinks they are dead and they have to let the Sec. of State know within 30 days that they are alive or they will be removed from voting rolls. Oddly enough it seems that a number of folks being sent these letters are elderly and African American.

This is interesting because the news was saying that Dallas County received their list but they could not remove anyone because it was within 60 days of a federal election.
Recent personal story: my son qualified for SSI and Medicaid while he was in the NICU. SSI was supposed to stop when he was discharged. It didn't. I finally noticed over a year later that the stupid $30/month was still being directly deposited into my account. I called and gave them his discharge dates and said that I figured they'd want the overpayment back.
Guess what happened this month? Instead of the $30 deposit that should have been cancelled they deposited $130 into my account! So now I get to make a trip to my SS office.

This was a great piece and Texas should be ashamed.
Of course the states official stance is that you can still show up and go through all of the crap you shouldn't have to in order to vote WITHOUT the guarantee that they can verify you once you get there.
This made me so stabby. It was like 80k people or the like who received notices. The highest number ever sent out with the majority to African Americans and Latinos.
It also made note that probably ZERO % of the Latinos who were sent notice will do anything about it for fear of it triggering their citizenship being questioned.
