I have no idea - this area is stuffed with mega wealth. Probably my neighbors from before I moved who put the pediatric center in the local hospital, but there are a lot of contenders. Most people are fairly low key about it and I have no idea how much wealth any of them have but it’s clearly a lot.

I think your last sentence is key. I was talking to H about this thread and he said “well so and so are all billionaires.” I had no clue. They are low key about it.
My bff. Her family had a chain of very successful grocery stores that they sold a few years ago for close to a billion dollars.
When I first met her I never knew she was wealthy. She lives in flip flops and cut of sweats. She has several nice cars and several beautiful homes but I did know any of that when I first met her. She has a heart of gold.
A relative by marriage is a millionaire. He started a very successful law firm and sold it when he was retiring. He drives a modest car that I could afford. He outright owns an amazing house with a great location/incredible view but its “only” worth about 1.5 million and he bought it years ago. He takes lots of incredible vacations around the world, and buys my kids gifts from his travels, the swap meet and the dollar store. He’s a huge sports fanatic and does a lot of philanthropy in the arts. He’s a little eccentric. If you met him you would think he’s well off but not necessarily a millionaire, and I suspect he has more money than anyone would guess because he is frugal in a lot of ways and planned well for retirement.
I also have some billionaire clients who started successful companies. They have my contact info and I have theirs, I meet with them in a business capacity, but I would not call them up unless I had a really good reason. Most of my daily contact goes through their employees. I’d also say they are eccentric and not flashy although they each have their “things” they’ll spend money on, like super nice cars or an amazing art collection.
Is it weird to wonder if your dad new my Poppop B? Lol
That would be pretty cool. At which campus did your grandfather work? My father worked at Lewis in Cleveland, although worked with people from campuses across the country.
I had a friend that worked at Lewis! That was back in the mid/late 90s when I knew him (more "stop by the office" rather than "In my phone") but he was there for quite a number of years. Funny if my friend knew your dad. (Or was your dad maybe named Noah? Lol.)
I would say my paternal grandparents, but my uncle has been selling off all of the original artwork my grandfather had, so I am not sure how much is left. (my grandfather was a comic book illustrator during the "Silver age" of comics and had tons of artwork worth a lot of money)
Before that, I was pretty close friends with a NASCAR driver's daughter (I had no idea when I met her because I do not really follow NASCAR and it wasn't until i went to her house and the person at the security gate told us), but we have lost touch over the years.
The richest person in my phone contacts is probably one of my brothers. Probably the younger one. He's a doctor who fell into a sweet spot post residency, where he makes a good amount of money, didn't have to buy his partnership in the practice (it was automatic), and he lives in a LCOL area so his salary goes a lot farther than it would around where I live.
I went to college with a lot of people with significant wealth (both old and new money, from businesses to financial firms, very successful doctors, entertainment industry etc) but I have not stayed in contact with the really rich ones so don't have their contact info. Most of the rich kids hung out with the other rich kids in college, in my experience.
ETA H's boss is extremely rich, a billionaire but I'm not sure much beyond that. I don't really know him. H obviously interacts with him regularly though.
A really sweet friend of mine from high school and college married a billionaire's son, and it's totally a Cinderella tale. She has the best clothes and is super awesome.
The dude who owns our ski resort (former pro athlete from an old money family) I know him because his wife used to be a client of mine, turned friend. She's lovely, he's a total douche and she 100% married for money and regrets it. She fools around with chicks when he's not in town.
My H knows famous people via work with shit piles of money, some of whom are in our phones. Most of them are assholes. The only rich people I know that I actually like and can hang with are old money people where you would never know they have it if you didn't know their travel schedule lol.

I remembered another story about my friend I mentioned earlier in this post.
The day before he left to go home I offered to do his laundry so he wouldn't need to worry about it when he got home. He had been away from home for three weeks. He told me no. He has his laundry person scheduled to be at his flat two hours after he gets home. This person comes once a week and just does laundry.
My bff married a guy who has a trust fund. They are both prudent about their finances and her husband has been working since grad school.
My childhood friend owns several houses in Shanghai, has a personal chauffer, nanny, and cook. She's considering buying a house near me in NOVA and thinks nothing of spending 700k on a house, with cash.

My H's old boss, you wouldn't know it.
As far as my contacts...it would be due to their specialization. I don't know if down to earth is a descriptor I'd use, but normal. She likes nice things and has certain expectations but nothing outside of well what'd you expect at that income level...all self made.
I met the wife of a famous business man/investor/sports team owner at the park with our kids. She is very sweet and I had no idea who she was until we put our numbers in each other’s phones 😂
I have a friend with a wealthy boyfriend. He's an attorney, owns a popular restaurant and was the CEO of a small airline.
I'll never forget a conversation from a couple years ago when she said her boyfriend was describing some friends or business associates and saying "pssh, he isn't even worth a stick." Apparently stick is slang for a billion dollars.
I slept over at their house last year and when I went to grab something from the fridge there was only beer, bottled water and ketsup in there. Apparently her boyfriend doesn't like food smells so they don't cook in their house.
She didn't want to live with him at first so he bought her a house and sent both her kids to an expensive private school nearby. They live together here now. She is super fun and spunky and works as a waitress 2 or 3 weeks a month. They spend the rest of each month at his place in FL. Meanwhile I shop at Aldi so I can afford to feed my kids

I have this. I'll be honest, it's glorious. It's my favorite thing we pay for. I told H I will take C (the woman who comes twice a week just to do laundry) over him if he makes me choose.

The charter bus driver that does a route for a group I work with.
Not kidding. We didn't know how rich he was until one night while we were cleaning up the bus after a run. He started talking to DH about the military, then his flying career in the Navy, and oh! He's on the board of the small airport that all the wealthy people in Denver fly out from. He lives in the gated neighborhood where many of the Broncos live, has his own private jet he rents out. Just absolutely unbelievable from who we thought he was.
He drives a bus because he was bored playing golf all the time. His wife was in wealth management and the breadwinner until she retired last year. Wonderful guy that cares about every passenger and remembers their life stories
Just want to make it clear, Patton Oswalt and I apparently are not that close. He married Meredith Salenger this weekend and I was not invited. Nor did he ask me to make the cake 😂
