When we went to conferences at school a few weeks ago, W’s teacher informed us that she likely wasn’t going to be there much longer as she was pretty sure she’d be put on bedrest for the rest of her pregnancy (at that time she was 35 wks) She did mention that they had a longterm sub lined up and she had been in the classroom with the regular teacher a few times....but was not at conferences to meet parents
In any case, there has been no further communication from either the school or the new teacher/sub saying that the sub has now taken over....the only way I know that the new teacher is there is because W has told me.
Is this weird for the school or the sub not to really say anything or introduce the sub?

Yes it is weird. But I don't think it is that uncommon for that to happen because my school sucks at communicating with parents about long term subs for maternity leave. When I was out with S, I told my kids I wouldn't be back after April break and they met the sub. But I don't think my principal actually communicated it to parents at all.
