SIL is getting married in Nairobi in January and we'll be flying in and spending about 2 weeks Kenya before and after the wedding. We will have a quite a few days of downtime and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for day trips or must see/eats. Our first two nights we'll be staying at a lodge just outside of the National Park, then spending 5 days at a private country club just outside of the city for the wedding and NYE, then flying to Mombasa for 5 days at a beach house.
There are no concrete plans besides the game drives at the lodge, the wedding and NYE at the club. I imagine we will need to arrange private transportation from the club to the city and anywhere else which is fine but would like to have some sort of plan in place. SIL and her fiance are not planners, but I am and refuse to sit around at a country club while I could be out exploring Kenya.
we had a meal at Karen Blixen house which was a beautiful setting and the food was good.
We enjoyed David Sheldrick elephant orphanage.
The Giraffe Center was super fun-- the giraffes will "kiss" you.
We stayed at the Ololo Safari Lodge inside the park and it was beautiful and service great. You would never know you were in the center of Nairobi.
If you have time try to do a few days of safari in the Mara. The flights to the camps are pretty easy from Wilson Airport and the flight to the Mara was absolutely stunning because you could really see the topography of Kenya.

We're actually staying at the Ololo Lodge! Thanks for the other recs, I'll keep them in mind!
I'll definitely be adding the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to the schedule. It sounds like a great experience!
tres3, That movie is on my list to watch since SIL announced their wedding location. According to her, the club we are staying at is featured in the film.
