Thursday at my grandma's (mom's mom) - she is getting too old to do the cooking, but insists on hosting, so we all bring stuff. I have sweet potatoes, cranberry salad, and pie. I tolerate my extended family, but it is not a fun day. DH and I will veg at home that night. Need to think up a light dinner and wine.
Decorate for Christmas on Friday. Our tradition is to drink all the sparkling wine and order in Chinese.
Saturday we will go to my dad's family Thanksgiving. It is a lot of family time, but I love that it is not two big dinners in one day.
We'll be at my parents' house for Thanksgiving, along with my grandparents, sister, aunt, and uncle. My parents will be making the turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, and everyone else contributes various side dishes, desserts, and appetizers.
Our plans are all sorts of weird this year. I've hosted the last seven or eight years, but this year DH is going to be OOT, and my sister and niece are coming basically just for the Mon and Tues before the holiday, while I'm supposed to be at work and DD has school.
I'm thinking we may end up at my parents house one of those days for "Thanksgiving," and DD and I will play hooky for the day. Which means I have no idea on the actual Thursday. My parents and aunt will probably come over to my house, but I don't know if we'll do a second round of Thanksgiving or what.
Friday I'm hoping DS can hang out with my parents/aunt so I can take DD out for a hike and some one-on-one time.

Last year we decided to stay home and do a quiet day with just our immediate family and it was seriously the best thing ever so we're doing it again this year. We're very lucky that all our family lives close by and we see them all the time and don't need to make it a point to see them on holidays.
We stayed in PJs all day, watched movies, we made a full traditional dinner- kids helped, we ate off paper turkey plates and a paper tablecloth that the kids decorated. it was just a super chill, amazing day and i can't wait to do it again this year. The rule was no housework other than what was required to make dinner, otherwise just relaxing family time
I mentioned in the holiday drama post that I was hosting but was feeling guilty. I got over it and I'm hosting and I think everyone seems happy (or at least ok) with it. My brother and his GF, MIL/FIL and SIL are attending. I'm just so happy to eat MY favorite Thanksgiving foods. My MIL isn't the best cook and she makes boxed everything (stuffing, gravy, etc). I have the week of Thanksgiving off, and usually DH and I take one of the days to go Xmas shopping and I love that tradition. I'm going to clean/get ready the other days. DS2 has a soccer tournament on Friday, so I am skipping Black Friday shopping this year. And the rest of the weekend we'll just hang out and eat tons of leftovers.
It's our year with H's family, 3/4 of whom live with us now, so we're celebrating at home. In the morning H and the girls and I are going to the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Center City, like we do every year.
I am looking forward to the parade - it will be M's first year, and L will be almost 4 this year and gets more and more into it the older she gets. I'm also looking forward to a four day weekend, though it's not going to be very relaxing for us because M's baptism is on 11/26, so we'll be going crazy getting the house ready to have 30 people over afterwards.
I also have to figure out what's going on with my Dad still being in the nursing home - I assume my family will be going there to celebrate with him, so I'll either be bailing on H's family at some point, or we'll be going there Friday to visit. I also want to start pulling out our Christmas decorations!
My BIL/SILs are hosting this year and I am not really looking forward to the food. They are just not the best cooks and have a very boring meal planned. Deep fried Turkey (which they will not even inject or flavor), boxed stuffing, jarred gravy, and most likely canned or frozen veggies: corn, carrots and green beans. Blah! Also, BYOB
DH, the boys and myself are going to the local high school football game and going to dinner later. I will be bringing a big pitcher of Caramel Apple Sangria (to share) and delicious dessert. That will be the bulk of my dinner. lol
I do like getting together with the family, just prefer my own food.
We're staying home, and my mom is coming over. We're not sure if my extended family is doing anything because of illnesses, but we prefer just our small family anyway. H offered to host everyone, but, no. We have an infant, my family is big and loud, and just one available bathroom (and the door refuses to click shut, so no lock).
So I will be on kid duty with my mom, watching the parade, while H cooks everything, the way he prefers. He's a great cook, and I LOVE Thanksgiving now. And leftovers for days!
We're supposed to be hosting ILs and grandpa-IL... but I just learned they're not sure if they're coming because we might get flurries on thanksgiving 🙄 so we probably won't know until past minute, which is a huge pet peeve of mine!

Neither of us have family here and we won't get DSS until the evening time so I made reservations for lunch and we'll probably hit Bourbon St for a little bit after we eat. Fun, easy and no family pressure! Friday morning we are leaving to go to Houston to see my family for the weekend. I'm excited.

Thursday is our wedding anniversary. And right now we are still up in the air if we are going to be at my brothers house (because my SIL won't go anywhere else & who knows if we are even invited. She plans nothing until the day before and then makes us feel like we are imposing on her, which I don't get because you don't need to host us.. we are family but whatever).
If we don't go to brothers house, then we may just find one of the local restaurants to have a nice dinner.
Husband leaves to go on the boys trip to the Ranch to go hunting that Friday morning, so I have the entire weekend to myself! May do some movies, get a mani and pedi, sleep late and eat ice cream all day if I want! LOL
We're having my parents over and maybe my brother and SIL if they would answer a freaking email. I find the Thanksgiving meal one of the easiest to make - you can prep a ton ahead of time, most things cook at the same temp and so on. It should be chill (ish).

We're going to my boyfriend's brother's house for thanksgiving ... he and I are making pumpkin pies separately - may the best pie win 😂 and I'm bringing homemade cranberry sauce.
I'm excited about it, dd's eh about it and I'm sure everyone in my mom's family will be .. Tracey's got a boyfriend she's spending a holiday with Since when ?? since we won't be going to so cal for thanksgiving
Anyone in here who has family members who work in the hospitality industry and have work on Thursday? What do you guys end up doing? We are split between like, actually going all the way to his mom’s, ordering Chinese, going to Wawa and just getting stuffing or actually going to my mom’s that day. He has to work at least some point in the day. I just don’t know when yet. One or both jobs are open that day and it’s part of a hotel.
But I do know my local bar sets up a buffet for other orphans.
This is what my SO’s place does. It’s a college town with a lot of kids who are here from out of state/country. They end up being pretty busy that day.
I'm hosting with my lasagna. LOL I'm actually looking forward to it. It's a smaller crowd than usual, and my new nephew is coming and since there are fewer people, more newborn snuggles for me! On that same note, I am dreading my kids whining they are bored bc there are no cousins their age coming. Luckily, our neighbors are also hosting so I hope to punt them out the door for some outside time.

We've had dinner with my brother and his wife for the past few years. This year no one feels like cooking, so we're either getting a pre-cooked meal from someplace, or going out. I think we'll make a decision today.
I will go to my parents with my brother, my sister and her family and possibly one of my mom's friends. I am bringing appetizers, green bean casserole and I think a fluffy salad.

What's a fluffy salad?
It's what my dad calls any salad made with cool whip. I will likely make this one bc it's his favorite. He's pretty much the only one that eats fluffy salad but he loves it so much that one of us makes it every year. www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/pistachio-mallow-salad
