We just wrapped up H’s first week back at work (he has three more weeks of work, then he is home again for two months). It went way better than expected and I enjoyed my alone time with the girls. He has also taken over 7pm -12 am so I can sleep. It is amazing.
We have zero plans and no visitors scheduled for the weekend. I think we will run some errands but generally be lazy.
DD came home from daycare with a 102.5 fever today. We can't seem to catch a break lately! She has had a runny nose and slight cough this week so I'm hoping it is just a cold. Fingers crossed that it doesn't turn into another ear infection...
C got circumcised yesterday. He's doing good, but by far his fussiest day yet. I'm not complaining too much, it's resulted in some extra snuggles today.
We are doing newborn photos tomorrow, and a friend may come out to look at our car seat (she's certified) but no plans other than that.
While I really appreciate the help we've been getting from people, I'm really missing out on my introverted alone time.
jordylee, L also came home with a fever today! I was getting ready to leave work to go to her Thanksgiving luncheon & they called me to tell me she had 100.8 fever. Not bad. Except I went and got her and by the time I got her home, it was 102. Like T, she has been snottier than usual and has had a terrible, phlegmy cough. Luckily she doesn’t seem to feel too bad. Just a little whiny and clingy. We’ll see how the night goes. I’m thankful that we made it to 8 mo before I got the “come get your kid” phone call. Hope T feels better soon.
Depending on how L feels, we’re supposed to go to a BBQ competition tomorrow. DH’s coworker is competing. Then we need to run a bunch of errands to get ready to go out of town next week.
I’m so bummed. I was planning to go to the KicKee pants sample sale tomorrow. Dh is working and my parents got the stomach flu from my nephew so everyone is sick or recovering. I had a $100 credit to spend too. I wish sample sales were remotely kid friendly and i would brave it alone with the baby/toddler.
clseale oh no! Sorry to hear that L has it too! Sounds like the same thing.. her temp was 99.1 at daycare but a few hours after we got home it was up to 102.5. It came down with ibuprofen thankfully and she went to bed at 5. I won't lie, I liked the extra snuggles but it sucks when they don't feel well. We are planning to just lay low this weekend. We had visitors last weekend and next weekend, so this is our weekend "off" to take it easy.
I just looked up Daniel Tiger Live tickets and the cost for our family of three would be $210 in the cheapest seats. If I am spending $210 on a show, I'm going to Hamilton. Sorry, kid!
I'm working tonight and tomorrow, but I think E may have an ear infection. He was up for an hour and a half last night, and said "ow ow ow" when he tried to lay on his right ear. He finally slept once the Motrin kicked in. I'm going to monitor him (well, mostly DH will report to me) this weekend and see if it continues... I hope not.

We ended up getting our tickets off Groupon so it was like half that. I would keep an eye on living social or Groupon for them.
DS fell out of his bed at 12:30. Ran down the hall to check him out. He was basically still asleep, but then had to worry if he had a concussion for a while. Read a bunch of stuff online about what to look for, and finally fell asleep around 2. (He never really woke up, so he was asleep the whole time) Trying to type all of this without using I️ because well, look what happens.
Went in to check on him just now and he’s on the floor with his entire queen size comforter over his head. He’s breathing normally and his body started moving as I rearranged the comforter, so I think he’s ok. Hopefully! This I️ thing is so annoying. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t??
BB decided to scream cry at 1130 PM and didn’t stop for an hour. So we finally brought her to our bed. She isn’t sick so I have no idea what the deal was. Then in our bed she flopped around like a fish and kept punching either me or MH in the face. So I got mad at like 2 AM and sternly told her to go to sleep which resulted in more crying. Eventually I fell asleep and she and MH did too.
Of course she’s fine this AM and MH and I are zombies.
I think others have had this random sleep regression/interruption around 22 months? She woke up asking for mommy then daddy when neither of us went to her. When we did it was book and Beatbo that she wanted. No baby, go to sleep. When I’d say that she’s cry harder. Tell me this doesn’t last long.
This morning, we saw that tooth #3 popped through! Kiddo seems to be feeling better, and the fever went away with 1 dose of ibuprofen. I have to say, the 3 teeth across the bottom is pretty cute!
Wow, I’m trying to Xmas shop but Amazon seems to be crashing! I get an error message when I search. I’ve never seen that before!
H is going to be gone all day today, from 10 until past midnight. 😩 it is going to be a long day. And I really need to clean the house and start making my Thanksgiving menu seeing as we are hosting. My original plan got ruined so I need a backup plan.
raangoli, I wish I could tell you it stops soon, but that's pretty much 2-4 nights a week for us, at 28 months. Lately, he says he's hungry, usually because he didn't eat dinner (or only ate bread or whatever).
raangoli , yes, I think there is a sleep regression right around that age. DD went through it at 23 months and I’ve noticed a lot of people post about it here. It was tough, with DD it lasted a few weeks. But it is definitely a phase that passes. She started crying at bedtime and then waking up screaming a lot. We ended up moving DD’s bedtime from 7 PM to 8 PM because she just didn’t want to sleep that early, but she also gets up pretty late relative to other kids I know (around 7 AM). It is kind of nice to have more time at night with her and she went back to sleeping great after the regression.
We’ve been invited to a daycare classmate’s birthday party today. I hope (a) DD is cheerful and doesn’t keep spitting up all over herself, and (b) MH and I won’t be our usual awkward selves.
Thanks pooh8402noodleoo. I remember that Susie posted a similar story a few weeks ago. BB is exhausted today and so are we. We took her to a science museum and she had a blast and slept an hour in the car ride home (I took the long extra traffic way home when I realized she fell asleep otherwise it’s half an hour). Let’s see what happens tonight.
I finally got the baby settled and asleep and someone rang my doorbell and woke him up. 😡
When my DS was 5 months old I had H cover the doorbell with cardboard. Best thing ever! 13 months later the cardboard is still there, everyone still knocks and no one wakes DS from his nap.

I was just going to ask how T is doing. L is ok for the most part. Still a little clingier and fussier than normal, but she’s still her happy self 95% of the time. Her fever has persisted though, so we did wind up at the doctor’s this morning. Ears and chest are clear, so that’s good. He did bring up teething and I have wondered when her 3rd tooth would pop through. She is cramming her mouth full of anything that will fit. I assumed her two top teeth would come next, but I wonder if we’ll get a third bottom too!
clseale we have been looking for a top tooth for weeks now. Then she smiled really big at me and I was all ooooh wtf is that down there lady?! Glad L’s eats and chest checked out OK. We moved from a soy to a milk-based sensitive formula and instant diarrhea again. Back to soy we go. I’m not super excited about that, but if that’s what she needs right now we’ll go with it.
Yesterday I had a 20 hour day, left the house at 4:40am for a 6:15am flight, full day meeting, and landed back home at 11:30pm, finally home after midnight. Calvin wanted to have friends visit this weekend and I told him I really didn't want friends to already be here when I got home after that, but if he agreed to take Hobbes for the morning today so I could catch up on lost sleep we could have friends here today to tomorrow. It was barely after 8am when Hobbes busted into our room this AM, all "MOMMMMMMMMYYYYY!"
"I couldn't stop her!" The hell you couldn't. She's 2, and we have door knobs. NOT WHAT I BARGAINED FOR, Calvin. He still owes me.

Yeah, Hobbes did that, sometime in October I think (23 mo?). It was a rough week, but it was over and we moved past it relatively soon after. I have no advice besides coffee, and maybe agreeing to switch off, either halves of the night or every other night if it gets to be a thing for a little while.
Susie oh no! Calvin owes you big time! I hope you can sleep in tomorrow but maybe not if friends are staying over.
With BB’s scream crying there is no rest for anyone which is why we opted for cosleeping. We talked about how she has to sleep in her own bed tonight and we will see her in the morning so fingers crossed she will sleep through the night.

Ugh. Fever spiked back up to 102.7. An hour on Tylenol and it only dropped to 102.4. We gave Motrin and managed to get it down to 101.8 before putting her down to bed. If it keeps up tomorrow, I am taking her back in on Monday. My poor baby. She was trying so hard to be happy, but her face was all flushed and her eyes were glassy, and you could tell she was just so uncomfortable.
Looking at pics of my EBF kid when she was a tiny baby and feeling SUPER guilty when I see her eczema flaring hard knowing now that she has a severe peanut allergy and that i was probably having a peanut intense week Also, the only thing I ate everyday while pregnant was PB toast so I've basically been poisoning her from conception...
Aww, hugs ebeth. You didn’t know. Go easy on yourself.
I’m back with fever questions. I’m going to be a pain in the ass, but this is the first time dd (8 mo) has been really sick. I’ve been going back and forth between Motrin and Tylenol to see if she responds better to one over the other. Haven’t noticed a difference. Quick background/timeline.
Sat: 1 AM- No fever 7 AM- 101.8 (gave Tylenol) 11:30 - went to Dr, 99.7 chest, ears, throat ok 12:30- 100.4 (gave Motrin) 5:00 PM -Felt cool most of day, but felt really hot after nap, 102.7 (Tylenol) 5:45 PM- 102.4 (gave Motrin) 6:15 PM- 101.8 Went to bed
Sun: 12 AM- 96.5 (took it 3 times...is that low normal??) 5:45 AM- 102 (Motrin)
She is now sleeping. At what point would you call the Dr again? Today? Or should I get in ASAP Monday if it doesn’t go away today? She’s still nursing well & she’s taking sips of water. Wet diapers are good. No diarrhea.
