The good news: I was basically made an offer on the spot, HR called me within the hour to confirm salary (which was about 30% higher than expected), and I was even told that I'd be a perfect fit to transition to XYZ position in the near future, which is a role I've been wanting to get into for years.
The bad news: There is absolutely no way to make the crazy schedule work, so I'm going to have to turn down the offer I went into the interview with the understanding that the schedule worked one way, and it's not that at all. It's so chaotic and all over the place. DH and I went round and round trying to figure out how to make this happen, and it just can't.
So, yay for me being at least competent enough to get through the interview :drink:
And, boo for not being able to take the job
Is there any way to address the schedule issues with them before turning down the job? Would they be able to work with you about it at all?
Honestly, I'm kind of pissed about the scheduling issue and it really makes it seem as though they don't have their shit together.
I applied for a job marked with X schedule. When asked on the app what sched I could work, I also marked X schedule. One minute into interview she says "Oh, you wanted X schedule?? Um, that's not really going to work." Then proceeded to try to sell me on Y schedule.
I told her I'd think about it, but honestly doubted anything other than X would work. Also, WTF was I able to pick X schedule during the app process only to show up at the interview (the interview cost me about $40 in sitter fees, btw) and be told that X isn't an option?
I'm putting in a call to her today, but I doubt she'll change her tune on this. Ugh.
Is this a nursing job? I can't think of any other jobs that have weird options for scheduling. That *sucks* to have to turn it down, but at least you know they liked you! That's always good for the ego.
