I want (p)leather pants sooooooooooooo bad. I'm usually never a slave to trends but I really love this one.
I do love the geometric print dresses too. This fall season will not be good for my wallet.
I love leather pants too! I had a pair of black pleather in HS and LOVED them. They made my butt look fantastic. I may have pulled out my old pleather skirt the other day, but I think it is a tad too short for this lady.
My justification is always price per wear, lol. I spent $250 (each) on both pairs of boots that I wear the most. But, I've worn them so much (and only had them 1-2 years) that it's down already to $1 each time I've worn them. They'll last forever, though, and if I ever have an issue with them, I can send them to Frye and they'll fix them or re-sole them, or whatever.
I resisted buying them for so long, because the price tag just seemed outrageous to me for some reason. In the meantime, I bought who knows how many pairs of boots/shoes in the $50-100 price range that I never wore because they weren't the style I really wanted, or they hurt my feet, or whatever.
In the end, I'm glad I spent the money on them, but at the same time, I do see where it's like - that price is too high. I certainly felt that way for several years. The one pair of boots I was dying for - I wanted them for like 5 years but just couldn't pull the trigger (but the 5 year thing also shows they are a pretty classic style).
This is pretty much what I was trying to get at. I was spending $50 each year buying new boots becuase the less expensive ones were trashed after one season of heavy use. So, in the end the price per wear ends up being better with more expensive boots. But I udnerstand it is hard to pull the trigger to buy more expensive shoes.
The cool thing about the pricier boots is that I can always get them resoled.
Trust, I totally understand, but my inner Scrooge just can't do it! LOL What I typically do, (because this is Memphis and it doesn't get cold until mid-November) is wait for the first boot sale of the season. Or, I find coupons. Retailmenot.com is my best friend.
(I think I wore them with sparkly geometric shirts....I was so ahead of my time)
FASHION FORWARD!
I've seen several pairs of leather leggings... IDK. I wear leggings and if I wore leather ones, I'd wear them the same way. I think leggings look good on me, but there's something about leather that makes me think it would look terrible on me. It could just be my style in general - I'm not much of a rocker type chick, lol, which is what I associate with leather pants.
I went to a Martha Stewart lecture last fall (I know, I know) and she was wearing leather leggings, a pair of kick ass heels and an oversized sweater. She looked awesome...but even though I'm at least 30 years younger than her, I'm certain I can't pull that off.

Major - I'm with eclaires on the "buy good boots that will last forever" bandwagon.
I have two pairs of "real" boots - a pair of Hunter rain boots (an absolute necessity where it rains six months a year!) and a pair of Fluevog motorcycle boots.
Now, Fluevogs are expensive, but I've had them almost ten years and I wear them allthefuckingtime and they're barely broken in. I'm sure I'll have them until I die, if the dog doesn't chew them up.
...and they're freaking beautiful. They are incredibly well made and cool to look at. You can wear them with junky clothes and suddenly look and feel well dressed.
